I go to the SportsNation chat page in preparation for Marshall's chat and I see *******'s face plastered on my screen in the midst of one of his chats. This is what happens when I show up early to things. ESPN pulled the old bait-and-switch and I almost broke my laptop in half.

Q1: Nate (Las Vegas) - February is tough for basketball teams. How do you personally stay focused and stay healthy?
HCGM: No. 1, you cut back practice times a little bit. We generally go about an hour and a half, depending on the game schedule. We lift more weights and watch more film. Hope and pray your core guys stay healthy.
HCGM: As far as focus, normally, you're in the midst of a conference race or trying to improve your status with the NCAA selection committee, so focus should not be an issue.Last edited by Shock Top; February 12, 2014, 04:59 PM.The Assman

Q2: Dave (Wichita) - Coach- how is your team holding out physically? Do you see any signs of them wearing down? Are you happy with the progress your bench is making?
HCGM: I think we're holding up fairly well. We're relatively healthy. Everyone has nicks and bruises at this point. We're trying to watch our length of practice time and give the core guys more days off when we can find them.Last edited by Shock Top; February 12, 2014, 04:58 PM.The Assman

Q3: Paul (Wichita) - Coach Marshall; what is one of your biggest challenges that the rest of the fans and media wouldn't notice or haven't discussed?
HCGM: I think the biggest challenge we have right now is remaining humble, yet hungry. Knowing that what we have going on is pretty cool, but as soon as we lower our guard, that's when we could lose. We have to be on our game, regardless of the competition.Last edited by Shock Top; February 12, 2014, 04:59 PM.The Assman

Q4: Jeff (Miami) - Every season is different from the last, but how do you think last year built the foundation for this season?
HCGM: I think it's been paramount to our success. Our guys realize that when playing well, they can play with and beat the best in the country. All of the work we did in the preseason and the fall has gone into our belief that we not only want to get back to the tournament, but win the whole thing.
----------
Q5: Joshua (Houston) - What do you like most about coaching at Wichita St.?
HCGM: I love the passion and the energy that our fan base and Shocker Nation bring every day and game. I love being able to coach the right type of people that are willing to be coached and willing to work very hard and learning things individually and as a unit.
----------
Q6: David Norris (North Carolina) - How often does the word "undefeated" get mentioned in your guys' meetings and practices? Is it something you embrace or try to ignore?
HCGM: We really don't talk about it amongst ourselves. We get asked about it, but our response is generally our goal is to win the next game. We've done that 26 times. If we can win the next game, then we'll only have four left to have a undefeated regular season. But our goal is always to dedicate ourselves and commit ourselves to winning the next game. That's all we discuss.
----------
Q7: Ed (Queens Village) - Toughest arena in MVC to play at outside of Wichita St?
HCGM: The toughest MVC arena is Missouri State. They have some rabid fans that are very very vocal. It's the closest geographically in our league to WSU. You have the bordering states. Their students are tremendous. It's one of the most raucus student sections we see.
----------
Q8: Jeff (Colorado) - What's been the key to the sustained success you've had at WSU?
HCGM: Good players. Good players that are willing to be coached and work hard on a daily basis. Their skill development, team prep, weight room work, film study. But talented players. That's the key.
----------
Q9: Ryan C [via mobile] - What's a common misconception about recruiting?
Gregg Marshall (4:48 PM)
HGCM: I think the biggest misperception that young people thinking they can all play at the highest level. It takes a while before it filters down. The five star guys pick their school, then the four star players. For some guys, there is no offer at the DI level. You have to pick the right location for your success. For WSU, generally, we're getting on a plane to recruit. We're not usually driving to look at our prospects.
----------
Q10: chris (wichita) - love the hard trapping press. what determines when you use it?
HCGM: Time and score. The ball handling abilities of the other teams. What we've seen on video tape from a scouting perspective.
-----------
HCGM: Hopefully you've enjoyed the chat and we can continue to have a tremendous season. I appreciate everyone noticing and following. The Assman
