i'm pretty sure that if you wore a unc logo'ed shirt, you weren't allowed into the winthrop locker-room. so, that goes back quite a ways. of course marshall is right- roy williams IS a punk, bully, with the unc machine behind him.

aint no machine behind gregg marshall. he's standing alone.

that goes without saying. who would say otherwise?

i'm talking about the macro-political connections inherent to the sport. roy-boy is quite aware of that one (bill "goat toupee" self is as well). no way in hell does williams want wsu-unc by the way.. he knows marshall is the tougher man.. i.e shockers would be throwing haymakers at that team

That's what pisses me off the most about the 2006 S16 run. The team George Mason had to beat to play us? UNC. I watched that game and knew that if, by some miracle, Royboy pulled that game out, WSU would have destroyed them.

At this point, the only way I figure UNC will ever play at Koch arena will be if they're compelled to in the NIT, and even then they may just stay home.

I started doing the gymnastics that it would take for WSU to end up in the NIT... it made my head hurt so I quit.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

I didn't mean this year, I meant in general. Even if UNC were to actually schedule a home-and-home with WSU, that 'home' game would invariably be played at IBA.

I keep hearing Heels fans bash Gregg because he 'bad mouthed Roy and UNC' at some coaching clinic. One dude says he was there but won't post what the quote was or the context. I know many hear don't like Roy either and that's fine; I'm not wanting debate that. Does this stem from Gregg's days in South Carolina? Just curious.
If you're in a unique position, I'm in at least a rare position as I'm a Shocker MARRIED TO a Tar Heel. Don't know much about Marshall's years at Winthrop or the veracity of what he might have said about Roy Williams. However, I do know the culture at UNC and WSU is as different as night and day. From my experience, UNC fans feel very, well, entitled. On the other hand, seems like WSU has to scratch and claw for any notoriety it can get. So, it wouldn't surprise me at all if there were some words exchanged at some point between Gregg and Roy.

Yeah, I knew what you meant but my point is that as long as HCGM is here and WSU remains in the MVC, the NIT days are behind us.

I hesitate to say this, but I know a guy who was flying on the same flight as HCGM one day. As Marshall walked up to him, this guy said, "Hey, Coach." and stuck out his hand. Marshall ignored him and kept on walking. However, that's the only negitive thing I've ever heard from people who have met him, and it may have been an anomaly.

If Marshall was having a bad day it was probably pretty obvious and I'd stay as far away as possible in that situation. In general though, I've only heard good things about him in public, that he's very approachable and willing to talk to anyone.
