  • Cotton's dunk is pretty much what Armstrong's looked like, although memories are badly faded.

the difference is that NOBODY dunked over Unseld. Unseld was probably about the same size as Jones, but he was incredibly athletic and strong. There was generally a space of about 3' around Unseld that was off limits to opposing players. He would hurt you if you got in there.

Combine X's mean streak and intimidation with Carr's body and you get a glimpse of Unseld. If it was Unseld instead of Lufile, Cotton doesn't get the highlight dunk. Jones would have retreated out of the area for fear of his life. It didn't bother Unseld to get a foul in order to send a message.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    • I think may favorite comment on the dunk so far was, about Jones, "That guy needs Jesus to save him from that dunk!"

        @forevershockerfan:
On TC'S dunk, one has to wonder that the backboard blocking his shoulder on the way up, did not prevent him leaping even higher. Maybe a T should have been called on our foes for "equipment obstruction of leaping?" However, wasn't it Tekele that tipped a ball out of a foes hand recently that would have ended up out of bounds, but instead, hit the ref, bonced back to TC for the assist that we ended up scoring on? Now That was finer than a frog-hair.

I would like to mention the a dunk and another memory of Warren Armstrong many moons ago that were also very amazing as was Cotton's dunk. A Shocker missed a shot that bounced sky high. W.A. came running in from nowhere, defied gravity as he leaped up with picture perfect timing, grabbed the rock around the top of the square and did a 'monsta-mash slam' that was something to behold as the rim shaked, rattled, and rolled.

The other memory was his jumpball versus a 7'0" player and got the tip with ease. What a special and gifted player Warren Armstrong was. If his number was ever hanging from the rafters, it would not hurt my feelers. Every solitary facet of the game he was awesome!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

        • Listened to a portionof the local sportstalk show in Great Bendon KVGB. Host Steve Webster was talking withPaul Savage of Wichita. Paul was reminiscing about Armstrong over Unseld dunk. When he finished, Webster said he wanted to add that he believed the Cotton dunk was "the most imposrtnat play in Wichita State history." Because,he said, that single play did and would do more for enabling the national public perception that the Shockers are not just a team thatplays funky defeense in an obscure middle of the land conference, but that it really has athletes that as individuals are very impressive. Savage said "righton, can I borrow that thought for my own radio show?"

bte, Steve Webster is the one who, I beleive, said that Andrew Williams was his nephew and couldn'tbelieve how the WSU team gave Andrew so much love and attention.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

            • I'm with Rosewood. I've seen impressive, powerhouse, poster-worthy dunks before, and Cotton's was among them. They aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but I've seen them, although not Armstrong's, unfortunately -- I was away at college back then.

But (possibly because I'm not that much of a hockey fan, I don't really know) I've never seen a goal like that one -- I wouldn't have even imagined such a shot was possible.

Earlier in the first SC that showed the top 10, they showed a video of another goal just like it. Maybe by the same guy, I don't recall. But it had been done before. That said, it was impressive and I have no problem with it being #1.

Is there a place on ESPN to watch previous Top 10 episodes? Are they archived somewhere? I loved Cotton's dunk but am intrigued by the hockey goal as well and would love to see it too.

Not from ESPN, but here you go:
