It was mostly ISUb. They are a 20+ win team, so just playing them helps us a lot.

    • We continue to see improvement in the Shocker's Adjusted Offense Efficiency in the Pomeroy Basketball Ratings. WSU is now in the top 10 for both adjusted offense and defense. A ranking of 7th in adjusted offense and 10 in adjusted defense. On Feb. 9th our adjusted offense was ranked 25th and adjusted defense 8th. The adjusted defense does show a slight slippage in rankings from 8th last week to 10th this week. In doing a quick cursory review I could find only one other team that is top 10 in both categories, and that is Florida with a ranking of 9th in both categories. Below is this week's dashboard with comparisons to the previous week (as of 03.02.2014).

        • The other interesting thing is how much higher or raw KenPom numbers are compared to everyone else. There is quite a gap after us.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

              • I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but UPS came out with its own matrix, which can be found here (WSU currently #3):

I heard Jay Bilas promoting this one recently.

                        • We no longer have a top 25 RPI win due to the late season struggles of St. Louis. We remain in the top 10 for both of Pomeroy's adjusted offense and defense. Louisville is also in the top 10 in both categories (10 AdjO and 6 AdjD). Florida was top 10 in both last week, but their AdjO fell to 15th while AdjD is at 5th. The Shockers will be well rested performing at peak efficiency. Comes down to match ups, but we come in looking capable of a deep run in the dance. Go Shocks!

                          • I thought it might be interesting to compare beginning of the year projections with the final (current) results. I did not save the earliest projections, but thought of doing so at Christmas, so I'm using those.

For Big 6 conferences, I used ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, SEC and Pac12 (even though the current conference RPIhas the Atl 10 in and SEC out)
For the next 6, I used American Athletic, West Coast, Mountain West, Missouri Valley and Mid-American

I used the projected rankings as of 12-25-2013 for determining the Top 25. If a team was projected to have a 30-0 record and ended up 26-7, I compute the "difference in losses" to be zero minus 7 = -7
