  • I'm not complaining but it seems like our bench is getting shorter and even though I appreciate the hustle I'm hoping that both Evan and Nick break out of their slumps soon. Our starters look like they could use the relief. I'm also hoping that conference play gives us an opportunity to use our bench quite a bit more than we have been.

Again, not complaining at all. Unbelievable 2013 and what a beginning of this season. Just incredible.

Wish the guys would start playng angry again. This team appears to lack a killer instinct. I won't question their toughness, but they seem to like to play down to the level of their competition.

At some point they may suffer an embarrassing loss.
A lot of this kind of feeling comes from undervaluing and underrating the quality of the teams we are playing. We are doing just fine. Besides the last thing we want to do is peak in December. I think there was certainly some rustiness that crept in during the holiday break, but as 3G said in the post-game he gives his team an A- for their non-conference performance and he is a tough grader.

actually, the shockers played very tough against a game, tough opponent (but watch those 'bows, early). davidson had already played 4 top-25 opponents prior to this game (much better schedule;e than the shockers have seen). they were battle tested.. and ready. maybe you read the pregame thread with stupid predicitons of a 20/30 pt win, or some such nonsense, and took it to heart?

        • Its funny, early on the problem was that the front court wasn't scoring enough and the guards were having to do all the work. Now the bigs are taking shape nicely and the guards are doing their same ol' consistent thing they do. Looking at the box score we have 4/5 starters in double figures with Fred at 9 pts. We played a team that has seen it all so far in the season and we beat them by 11.

Could we have played better? Sure, but after the Final 4 we're taking everyone's best shot and we grind out Ws. Thats what good teams do and we're a good team.

Ron's ankle concerns me but he's tough as nails. One game at a time now through the ultimate grind of the MVC schedule and things will be fine. Go Shox!

Well, I can definitely tell that you just LISTENED to the game, and didn't actually WATCH it.

            What an ignorant POS post.

            • Davidson is a scrappy bunch. I expect them to win the SoCon this year.

But man, do they clutch and grab, especially on rebounds. Eerily reminiscent of an Evansville.

Once again, every time a team tried to close in on us, we answered back. FVV had a dagger. Cle had a dagger. Guys just stepped up.

We just gotta gear up for this. We will be everybody's Super Bowl, home and away from this point forward, as is usually the case. We're probably not gonna have too many 25-30 point wins this year, even though we should. And undefeated non-con. A Top 10 ranking. What a great start to Shocker basketball!

Keep bringing it boys. Don't let some crappy, pee-draining Valley team take away all that you've earned so far.

              • Shockers have too many go to options.

Cotton hit some big shots. Early, obviously. Baker hit a trey when we needed one. FVV did. Too many.

The only problem that I had today was some sloppiness on the defensive glass. Our interior digs on defense were phenomenal by the guards.

We are really freaking good this year. I think we will see our starters playing more minutes as we enter the Valley. The wild card I think is still Wiggins. If he plays like he has all year, we won't be as good. But if he can step up a notch or 2, then we will be unbeatable. He had some signs today, but still is having trouble finishing. But he is a special talent and works really hard.

                    • During the post game interview with MK HCGM gave the team an A- as far as the non con went. It wasn't pretty at times but they found a way to win. He said he didn't grade on the curve either. I'm thinking he is one tough mother to get an A- from but I could be wrong. Really proud of the way our guys have played this year so far.

                          • I think a lot of you are overrating Davidson this year. That team is not very good and Elon should be the favorite to win the SoCon this year.

There were too many defensive lapses today. One possession, Wiggins and Cotton kept running to the same spot in the zone defense and they gave up a wide open three. Given the players involved I'm going to guess Wiggins was running to the wrong spot.

This team is good and it knows it. They tend to coast at times but when they need a big shot they know they can get it. It's amazing that they're 13-0 and haven't played a complete game yet. Time for Valley play to start and hopefully Lufile can work his way back into the rotation. He was just starting to show what he's capable of.

                              2. I wonder if that is the whitest team in the country.
                              3. How many balls did Darius fumble away?
                              4. That may have been the coldest walk to the Roundhouse ever.
                              5. I agree with whoever said the bench is getting shorter.

My term for Davidson is scrappy tough. Not too much athleticism there. Just some lanky, play hard, funky want-to with some Y.M.C.A. ball mixed in.
