  • Very proud of this team and this program with everything they've accomplished.

13-0.....Gotta be honest, I didn't expect that, and I DRINK the koolaid.

Onward and upward. These guys continue to win, and there is still a lot of room to improve. Cle is a MAN.

From my vantage point high in CKA tonight, just behind @shoxlax: (my apologies for not saying Hi), I thought WSU got a friendly whistle for the second game in a row. I hope we're ready for some "unfriendly" whistles when we head out on the road again.

Great job Shocks.....just so damned proud to support this program.

    • 1. Starters averaged 33 minutes.
      2. Evan's game 3 ball does not look anything like his shoot around 3 ball shot. It is a wondrous thing to see. Negative wonder.
      3. Don't get excited, but Nick is 2-4 on 3 balls in the last two games.
      4. Has any guard/forward in the history of Shocker basketball missed more driving lay-up shots than Nick Wiggins? Just wondering.
      5. Lucky maybe. Davidson guy puts up a 3 ball from the NE corner late in the game. I sorta believe he was fouled, but no call. My bud agrees.
      6. Lucky maybe. Davidson guy puts up a paint shot late in the game and I sorta believe we got away with a goal tend. My bud agrees.
      7. I thought the new NCAA rules were designed to reduce physical play. If you are not a man, don't go near the basket.
      8. Davidson chartered a 737 to transport its players, coaches and support personnel to Wichita. The plane was crowded.

        • I wonder if we recruited Kalinoski.

          • Funny how the last two teams we have played have has virtually no low post game. I'm not sure Davidson even teaches low post moves. Kind of makes me wonder what would happen if we let them catch in the low post and not double; make bigs defend Mano y Mano and guard the three ball line. No double or digs. Invite them to throw it in there like teams did with Ehimeh.

Probably, his uncle, Steve Kalocinski played here back in the day.

Wish the guys would start playng angry again. This team appears to lack a killer instinct. I won't question their toughness, but they seem to like to play down to the level of their competition.

At some point they may suffer an embarrassing loss.

Overall I thought we played pretty decent, low turnovers, we did win the rebound battle and we fought through a game that saw Davidson hit some big 3's (11). Anotheir very solid game for Darius and Cle was money again with anotheir double, double. The only blemish so far this season has been the bench, not that they dont play hard thats a given...we just need Nick and Evan to give us a little more scoring punch. I do like the way Nick is attacking the basket...he just needs to finish a little bit stronger. 13-0...this is fun

Wow I didn't realize that. It is too bad he didn't come here. Steve was quite the player back in the 70s.

Bob Lutz can probably tell us more since he was interviewed about Robert Elmore's induction into the Shocker HOF.

Another former Elmore teammate, Chicago native Steve Kalocinski, said he spent much of trip to WSU in Elmore’s presence.

“He basically convinced me Wichita State was the right school for me because of his demeanor,” Kalocinski said. “Mo was such an imposing figure but his demeanor didn’t match up to that big physique. He was so down to earth and so easy going.”

Kalocinski knew Elmore was starting to dabble in drugs after he left Wichita State, but was surprised to hear that his former teammate had overdosed on heroin.

“It was such a tragedy because he was naive in that way,” Kalocinski said. “Now I see Mo’s brother, Len, on TV and I see Mo in those eyes. It’s a real sad deal. But should that take away from his accomplishments as a basketball player? I don’t think so.”

                          • The so called "lack of depth" is a little misleading. In previous Marshall years, he's appeared to have a lot of "depth" but a lot of that was due to there being not much difference between the #1 and #10 guy on the team.

There are special players 1-4 (starting to look like 1-5) and you keep those players out on the floor. It isn't as much because 6-10 are worse than in previous seasons, it's because 1-5 are so much better.

We would have been significantly better those first few Marshall years with Kadeem or Chadrack, no question. Derail Green would be playing and scoring 6-9 points a game on any other Valley team right now.
