We knew it would be an issue coming into the year. It seems every few games we have a different guy emerge as "the guy". It seems at this point Carter is trending up, Coleby is trending down, and Lufile is purely speculative. I like seeing Cle spend more time down low and less time on the wing. I get that he has to "keep them honest", but he helps our team so much more when he's in position for offensive rebounds.

Hopefully Coleby will figure out how to get some minutes back, but he sure has been disappointing to date. We're going to need him during valley play.

Carter has 32 points and 27 rebounds in the last 3 games. He is definitely shaping up as the go to guy at at the 5. I completely agree with your assessment of CLE. More down low on the block. He is almost unstoppable down low. Start their, find your rhythm, then move out when needed.

5 spot by committee. Nuttin' wrong with that. Hell...that's 15 fouls available for that position. I like it!!!

There will no doubt be some match ups where we can exploit the size and power of Chadrack and Kadeem, especially in Valley play.

And I have no problem at all seeing Darius at the 4 next to Chadrack and Kadeem on occasion. Mix and match as needed and play the hot hand.

Hopefully, by the end of the year all 3 of these guys are eatin' lightning and crapping thunder.

        Works for me.

only 12 if you want to keep the 5 manned. saying 15 makes it sound like we could hit 15 without having depth problems

Since only one is playing the "5" at a time,I think the position is "manned" even with 14 fouls. But I see the point you attempted to make.

The timing of your post is odd. Our front court right now is as strong overall as it has been all year.

Don't see how you can say the timing is odd. Carter has had 3 good games in a row and is clearly emerging from the pack. Lufile has started to disappear and Coleby is doing very little. I just thought by the time the conference games roll around we would have more certainty with the frontcourt. So long as Cle takes a bigger role down low, it's less of a problem, but Lufile and Coleby both need to step up. The minutes are there, but we need better production from these guys.

Hell we did fine with 1.5 posts (Hall and Orukpe) last year. I think we have that covered with the 3 this year. It would be nice if 1 can be consistent, which Carter has started becoming.

I think between the 3 we have just as much productivity as we had between Orukpe and Hall last year. The only thing we lack a little is that intimidator on defense like Orukpe was. Hopefully Coleby can give some of that from time to time.

Of course I would like all 3 to be dominant, but it's not necessarily going to doom the Shox if they aren't all 3 all valley types.

I think the post is coming along ok.

Thus far I DON'T think our frontline is nearly as good as last years. Does anyone think those
guys driving the lane last night would have been so successful with Orupke nearby? We all
know what a beast Hall was and White always gave us quality minutes. Sorry, we are going
to need more improvement to go deep into the tournament. Fortunately, Carter has shown
much improvement recently AND against good competition.

Impossible to know with the new rules. Let's not forget that Coleby was a good post defender but has been in foul trouble generally so far. Orukpe would have been also. And there were times teams drove on Carl.

I still think it is pretty close

I don't particularly think Chadrack is disappearing, he had some foul trouble on him last night. 1 or 2 IIRC were on guards who had beat one of our defenders.

Each game has different match-up potentials.

I've actually been incredibly impressed with our post play - from my expectations - these past two games.

A lot of Valley games in front of us. Plenty of opportunity for all three to improve dramatically. And all three will improve.

Guard play carries you deep in the tourney. What really need to get Nick, Derail and Evan working on their playmaking and scoring and DG working on his defense.

Post play is shaping up nicely and I am quickly becoming a Darius Carter fan! 7 and 5 average in 17 minutes on the season. 9 and 7 in 20 minutes over the last five games and 11 and 9 in 24 minutes over the last 3. I'm expecting 10 and 8 in 25 minute average over the rest of the season. NCOY? 6th man? He good!
