This statement has potential to get jumped on by JH4P in a hurry.

        • Yeah, I hate KU as much as anyone but you never like to see that.

          • For some kind of reference, Loyola Marymount was 23-5 (if I'm reading their website correctly) going into the 1990 tournament when they lost Hank Gathers. It's hard to say where they would have been seeded, however, they had some quality losses (OU, LSU, UNLV were top 10 teams for much of the year and Xavier was ranked) so that should carry some weight, right?

Marymount was ranked 18-24 for a lot of the season. I think it's reasonable to assume LMU would have been at worst a 5 seed. They were dropped to ELEVEN. I will concede KU's Embiid's fill in is superior to Gathers' but still, it's a heck of a loss for both programs. Who wants to bet me KU doesn't get moved off the 2 line?

            JH4P?

              • A lot probably hinges on their game against (presumably) OSU in the Big 12 Tournament. Win that and they might hang on to the 2 seed.

Lose and they probably drop to at least a 3.

No lead is ever safe in either direction with BYU.

                    • KU should be no better than a 3 seed with their record. Eight losses and still in the top ten is really a stretch for me. I know all about their grinding schedual and the Big 12 but really against ranked teams there at about a .600 winning pct. Most of these wins are coming in the conference where they are trading wins and swapping rankings. Baylor, KSU, OSU, OU,KU, ISU,Texas, all are ranked are were ranked at one time. To me the Big 12 is good, but far from great. Guess we will find out here in a few weeks.

I'd guess it'll depend on how they do in the B12 tournament. Theoretically they could sweep through the tournament behind a barrage of Andrew Wiggins looking like the best player in the country and sit pretty as the main two seed.

That would require Kansas being able to sweep a bunch of top 50 RPI teams, though, and they weren't able to do that consistently while healthy. So who knows.

                        • This just screams of smokescreen. My guess is Embiid is done for the season.

                          • Embiid is a great talent, but I just wonder if his body will be able to hold up in the NBA. Im sure he will gain more weight and muscle but I just don't think he will hold up. He definitely has the skill and size, but I think he'd be smart to stick around one more year.

Or smarter to go out and get his paycheck this summer, which is likely what will happen.

I was thinking the same thing, it went from being just missing the last regular season games to now missing the Big12 tourney and probably the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. Guess we'll see though.
