Seems like a lot, but they were all quality losses so no real damage done.

        • Arizona played like piss for about a month but they're back to top 5 caliber. Up 16 on Stanford in the first half and won their last 2 games by 27 and 28 points.

They struggled in the immediate aftermath of the Brandon Ashley injury, but seem to be figuring out how to play without him. There is a clearly cut top 3 in the nation with Arizona, Florida, and WSU and it gets really fuzzy after that.

That's incredible. I know one team that was perfect again this week.

I just hope they are a significantly worse team without Brandon Ashley, because when I'm looking at the opponent-adjusted numbers, Arizona is the best team in the country.

Their lead over us in KenPom's defensive efficiency (and we're #8 in the country) is the same size as the gap between us and the #56 team. It's hard to gauge them post-Ashley-injury, but #1 in KenPom, LRMC, Massey, and Sagarin Predictor ... I'll be surprised if they aren't in the Final Four.

Yeah, but who did they play?

RPI Top 25: Wins, neutral court #9 Duke, @ #12 Michigan, @ #19 UCLA, @ #22 San Diego St, no losses, 4-0 with no home games

                      RPI 26-50: Wins, #28 AZ St, #30 Colorado, @ #30 Colorado, #33 Oregon, #42 Stanford, @ #42 Stanford. Losses, @ #28 AZ St. 5-1

                      RPI 51-100:#53 California, #78 New Mexico St, #80 Washington, #82 Utah, @ #82 Utah, #99 UNLV. Losses, @ #53 California. 6-1

15-2 against the top 100 RPI is pretty salty, particularly given the road wins.

Zona and Florida have played a nice schedule and have a nice record. If they continue out along those lines, they've earned their #1 seed. W/O Ashley, Arizona is very good by beatable. With him, they were damn close to dominant! WSU has also earned it's seed. Dominant? Don't know. Unbeatable? Maybe.

                          • Arizona will also play out of the West, which usually produces the easiest road for its #1 seed (obviously that road is different when you have to go through the #1 seed, the #2 seed, and the most underseeded #8 seed by KenPom). This year though, the Syracuse is going to get most of the home court love, playing out of Buffalo and then MSG. Those are two teams that are decent Final Four picks despite their problems, simply because they probably will get some innate advantages from geography. Whereas we'll probably be playing a team like Kentucky or Cincinnati in Indianpolis in what might as well be a road game.
