    • With tonight's win, BYU's RPI improved from 50 to 41. Cougars have Gonzaga at home next.

      • Usually at home you don't get a Tech called on you or so many freaking fouls........just saying at home the calls normally go your way....don't confuse that with me saying the refs cost us this game. #1 recruiting class of all time they said........

No championship for Kentucky this year this team reminds me of the 2011 team...........need most of these guys to come back next year if they want to try and win a championship so assuming UK doesn't win it all which they sure don't look like it I hope you guys can do it

Look at all the scores in the 50s and low 60s this week. We need higher offensive output this year, yes? Mission accomplished assholes.
Spineless officials? How bout this, maybe just maybe Fla is a good team.....A 10 point win at UK as a 2 point dog is very solid and had nothing to do with officials. As I said earlier dont be shocked if Fla moves to #2 in both polls with WSU #3 ( if they win at Eville). I really wouldnt have a problem with that....for two reasons, Fla probably deserves it and it keeps a chip on WSU's shoulder.

Doesn't Kentucky's method of recruiting pretty much require most of this year's class to move on to have room for next year's one and dones?

            • MOst loss to UNI today was more bad news for WSU. MOst dropped from 96 to 113 in the warren nolan rpi after the loss. The Shocks only rpi 51-100 wins right now are over Indy St and Tennessee. The WSU resume just keeps getting weaker. Last year WSU had 10 games against top 50 rpi teams (just 2 this year) and 10 more against the top 51-100 (just 3 this year). The Valley is really letting WSU down big time this year. None of the Shockers remaining 5 regular season games are against teams in the top 100 (MOst at 113 is the best rpi opponent left). The Shockers really need to totally dominate these last 5 games. There really isn't anything else they can do.

Look, I'm no SU apologists but let's keep it real here. We've had some squeakers and poor performances against some crappy MVC teams. At least SU can say their nail biters have all come against ranked and/or teams with winning records.
LOL..... A slightly above 500 team with a RPI in the 50's...wow. Who gives a rats fook about these teams once you get past the top 12? If NC St went into Carbendale next Tues to play SIU, SIU probably wins it. After the top 12-15 teams the rest are just filler.

It would be really hard to argue with that after Florida beat Kentucky by 10 on the road. I just hope WSU does really well tomorrow and is able to jump over Arizona. I think the Shockers chances should be pretty good if most of the voters actually watched the AZ-ASU game. Boy that was an ugly game.

WSU has had 0 single digit margin games at home (1 if you count Intrust, and that was a 9 point margin). Syracuse has had 7 single digit margin games at home, including the likes of Saint Francis NY (214 in KenPom) and Notre Dame (86 in KenPom) - 6 point margins in both.

Let's take the Saint Francis NY game first. Saint Francis led until 1:39 left in the game and Syracuse didn't take the lead until 1:00 remained. Saint Francis is 214 in KenPom. SIU led WSU off and on until 16:28 left in the game and WSU took the lead for good with 15:50 remaining. SIU is 157 in KePom.

On to Notre Dame. Syracuse beat Notre Dame by 6 at home. Wichita State beat Indiana State by 20 at home. Indiana State both beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame and is 2 spots higher in KenPom.

At least at home, you can throw out the 5 narrow wins that Syracuse has against Duke, NCSU, Pitt, Miami, and Clemson and Syracuse still has two close shaves at home against unimpressive opposition that were far, far closer to losses than anything WSU has done at home all season.

                      • Syracuse plays in a tougher conference than WSU does -- we all know that. And they probably look really good in the airport. But if, in the best of all possible worlds, they and WSU could both somehow make it to the national championship game unbeaten, do you think the Shocks would be nervous and intimidated, or eager?

KC, of course, would be nervous AND intimidated. But I'm betting the Shocker players would be eager on top of eager.

Their RPI is inflated based on the conference they play in. If you actually physically watch them, they aren't a good team. They've had 7 Top 50 games and have won ZERO. ZERO. ZERO.

I didn't realize St. Francis of NY was such a great team. Miami has a losing record, as the Cuse pounded them at home 49-44.

At least if you're gonna keep going with your predictable, annoying shtick, try and stick with factual statements.

IMO this is only half the story. The other half is that WSU is 6th in the RPI, which is considerably better than last year.

Consider that WSU could've handed out a few wins to the rest of the Valley (or the non-conference) and suddenly our opponents look a lot tougher. When you are the marquee game on most of your opponents' schedule, and you don't lose ANY of those games, they are going to have a tough time building a good RPI.

KU is the perfect example of this. They've handed out Top 10 RPI wins like they're candy. In return, their schedule looks WAY more difficult than it would if they had just won all those games.

There are two sides to the RPI equation. I will take the side with all the wins and a crappier-looking schedule.
