LOL, so you're telling me Marquette is an NCAA Tourney team based on those numbers? Sometimes you just have to WATCH basketball instead of just watching the numbers all the time.

Once again, as is the case with you...more fluff, no stuff.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

You are putting words into my mouth. Anyone who has ever read a word I've posted on here knows that I think computer ranks are useful, but not perfect. My only point was that claiming Marquette would be down with the likes of Evansville, Loyola, SIU, and Bradley if they played in the MVC is crazy.

        • Record vs teams outside the top 150
          Marquette: 7-0
          Loyola: 4-8
          Bradley: 5-4
          Evansville: 3-2
          SIU: 3-5

Record vs teams inside the top 150
          Marquette: 2-6
          Loyola: 0-1
          Bradley: 1-5
          Evansville: 2-6
          SIU: 0-6

So Marquette has as good of record against the top 150 as any of the Valley's bottom 4, and is light years ahead when looking at the cupcake games, but you still think they would be a Thursday night team in the Valley? You call me fluff and no substance but you are the one spewing odd opinions based on your personal eye test while I'm bringing something tangible to back up mine.

I agree. Short of IN St winning in St "Lewis", Marquette has an equal to better chance making the NCAAs than our 2nd best team. Certainly not Valley play-in level.

Have you seen them play lately? I'm not disputing that they are better than the bottom of the Valley, but if you can't score 50 against Creighton, you are a bad basketball team.

              • For our frequent BIG EAST visitors here, I'll continue to rail on that conference tongue-in-cheek or not. And you can come back with your graphing calculator, poindexter red pen, thoughts, and analysis all you want.

Translation: I will say sillly things because I'd rather make a baseless jab at the conference I'm obsessed with than use 2 brain cells and say something that makes sense. Logic, thoughtfulness, etc... they all scare me. Tell me that the stupid thing I said was, indeed, stupid, and I'll call you a nerd for figuring it out, no matter how obvious.

Marquette SUCKS. Big time. No, they may not literally be a bottom four Valley team, but they're close. But of course, a person with all your knowledge, skill, and wherewithal can continue taking things literally all you want. Go for it. Graph it out. Go f****** crazy. And yes, I'll continue doing my thing because I can.

The fact that you make it your duty to make sure an opposing fan doesn't cry about what is said here is something to be proud of.

Keep on fighting the good fight, dex.

No, I'm saying the logic used by our Resident Genius would suggest that Marquette was an NCAA Tournament team, when they clearly are not.

                        • I think Marquette is an enigma, as they are today. They cannot score. They are DePaul, opposite. They are bad, and they'd struggle to beat Evansville at home or away right now.

It might change, but they aren't good today.

Has Marquette played any of the outside the 150 games on the road?

                            • Saying Marquette is a tourney team isn't much different than saying UNI is a tourney team. Sure, if they beat WSU and ISU twice, they could be a bubble team. Marquette has more top 50 chances, so if they beat CU, GT and Nova 4-5 (and don't throw in any clunkers) they could be an at large team.

But the EYE TEST tells me they BLOW.

Fever, you refuse to have an intellectually honest conversation. Making this about the precise accuracy of computer rankings (as if anyone on here thinks a Pomeroy ranking of #48 in January automatically equals an NCAA team) was a way to sidetrack a conversation. If you want to claim that Pomeroy's rankings are terrible, fine, do it, but don't put words in my mouth to try and distract from the fact that as it stands, your eye test is completely out of whack with the computer rankings.
