The problem is we don't play any games like that. BC has more name recognition than every team in our conference other than, possibly, us. RPI, BPI, SOS, any other random number can be pulled out to prove how inferior BC is in comparison to middle of the road teams (which is practically the entire MVC) in our conference. But BC is still a BCS school with a recognizable name. A lot of people vote off what sounds bad. And since most people know very little about Evansville or Drake or Northern Iowa those sound infinitely worse.

But it still hasn't been proven how that loss will impact Syracuse's votes. Also, they're lucky in that they play Duke on Saturday which will effectively erase the BC loss if they win. And if they lose against Duke, we'll jump Syracuse and Duke will jump us. If we want to be considered in the same league as Syracuse we need to start playing teams like Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Miami, Notre Dame, Maryland, NC State, etc. You know? Good teams.

So why don't we get credit for beating Tennessee and Alabama?

We beat BCS teams every year and get little credit for it.

I was being a bit sarcastic in that final paragraph. Sadly, our victories against BCS teams haven't been against successful programs so they get de-valued. Whereas Syracuse, who plays solely BCS schools in conference play can get away with losing to a terrible BCS team because "hey, we play 'em all season! It was bound to happen!" Our wins don't get remembered and their losses get forgiven mainly because our conference is so laughable this year.

None of this matters come tournament time though. We'll be a high seed. Syracuse will be a high seed.

I don't think Duke jumps us. Syracuse losing to the team they did after struggling to beat a descent Pitt team and a lowly NCST team helps solidify the argument that is is nearly impossible to go through the regular season undefeated.

Florida is ahead of us, and I can't argue much against that, but we will be a solid 2nd, Duke a solid third if they win sat.
