      • First, Ron is from Western Kansas, and I am originally from Western Kansas, you have to know the mindsets of kids out there. He will stay in school, and continue to play. He seems to have developed a very good relationship with other players on the team, and I seriously doubt he would give up playing 2 more years with Fred for an iffy shot at this point in the NBA. I think getting his degree is a top priority with him.

Which is all good and well, but he will be a redshirt junior. Odds are good he will have completed his degree next year.

Ben Smith played significant minutes too. There was also a freshman named Tekele Cotton who only got 10 minutes a game. If Ron played, who would have sat? To answer that, you have to use your thoughts from the fall of 2011 and not use 20-20 hindsight that we have now. The thought at the time was that Ron would be more productive as a fifth-year senior than a first-year freshman. Nobody knew that Ron would ball up and make it possible that we wouldn't see that fifth year.
By the end of the year, he would have been first guard off of the bench. Smith played mainly a 3.

Absolutely, but I don't think that was known in November when the decision was made.

I think a minimum 1.8 million over 2 years can change a many mindsets.

I wonder if you could buy Scott City for 1.8 million dollars

Why would he need to? He already owns Scott City.

                        • I believe the only way he goes pro early is if there is a masked injury situation that would necessitate a move for guaranteed money versus risking the injury becoming public. No, I am not aware of this being probable.

                          Go Ron!

                          • The only way he leaves early is if he's a lottery pick. Otherwise, he risks not having a guarantee contract.

                              Now that's a interesting theory.

All first round picks are guaranteed 2 years
