Big-Time Props to B.Y.U!!!

BYU is nothing but a bunch of no talent, unathletic, cheap shot, hacks. I wasn't impressed with them against Stanford. And I'm even less impressed with them against the Shocks. Their defense is nonexistent. And their offense isn't much better, as it consists of little more than running into the lane helter-skelter and bashing into every other player on the court within flailing arms distance. And in terms of rebounding, I'm sure the BYU bosses keep it simple with words like, push, grab, hack, punch, poke.

The only thing that kept this game close was the Shocks absolutely atrocious outside shooting. And that had nothing to do with BYU. While there was some banging on inside shots, many outside shots were wide open. In fact, I can't remember seeing the Shocks ever miss that many completely wide open outside shots. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not criticizing our team for having an off shooting night. It happens. That's just basketball. What I'm saying is BYU got lucky. If the Shocks come even close to shooting as well as they did in previous games, they blow out BYU by 30 points or better. So despite lousy shooting , the Shocks still win by 13 because they played better offense than BYU. They played better defense than BYU. They outrebounded BYU. They had more assists than BYU. They had more steals than BYU. They had fewer turnovers than BYU.

AND, THE SHOCKS WERE A HELL OF ALOT TOUGHER THAN THOSE CANDY APPLES FROM BYU!

I'll pull for BYU to win, but only for the same reason I pull for all of our opponents to win; it helps our RPI. Other than that, those no talent BYU Hacks can take a deep dive into shallow water for all I care.

Yeah, nobody thought it was incidental. I'm sure he felt bad after he realized he had got caught.

My feeling there was some "stuff" as retribution as got frustrated with WSU defense and tenacity. I liked how when BYU tried to bully WSU, WSU rose to situation with a quiet determiness and matched their physicality and just turned it up a notch.

It wasn't incidental. It was a punk move. He got caught swinging not once but twice. I'll stipulate he may not have been going for the head but that's it. All the after game waiting around to apologize is fine but it's just face saving. That kid embarrassed his University which prides itself on its teachings and taking the high/moral road.

I saw Baker take the hit (even from a decent distance away) and knew Austin was gone but I just saw the replay on ESPN.

Hey, I understand heat of the moment and I certainly get supporting "our guys" but folks, there was zero maliciousness there, and the "second" elbow was nothing more than reactionary. You know I'll hang a douchenozzle out to dry in about .00001 seconds, but you can't hang Austin at all here. IF, and I repeat IF, BYU has a dirty type player it's Collingsworth but all I saw was a tough, physical team that does what they have to do when they aren't as athletic as their competition. Definitely not dirty.

If your "go to" move in the heat of battle (away from the ball) is to throw your elbow upwards toward the head and then try for seconds, then I think you have some underlying issues there, said Dr. Phil. Apology or not it was devoid of class.

I'm getting tired of seeing Ron Bakers' head used as target practice.

Some of you must not have been taught how to properly box out on a rebound nor have ever lost your balance and fallen backward with nothing in front of you to grab on to.

I know it's been awhile, but there was a time when that play wouldn't have even been called a foul, let alone a flagrant. Why? Because Ron came in from an angle beside and behind to try and get in front of Austin. Due to the size difference, Baker got hit in the head instead of the shoulders/chest. It would have been considered "incidental" back in the 80s when I played. I know because I hit the deck a few times from crashing the boards and taking an elbow. That was just part of the game. Just like we were taught to secure a rebound, bring the ball to your chest, extend the elbows and clear space. That was your space and if a defender got into it and took an elbow to the face, that was his problem.

The point is, just because it's flagrant according to the rules now (contact above the shoulders), doesn't mean it was malicious. And you can't use the fact he was ejected to support your argument because intent has nothing to do with the rule. The refs concluded the contact was "excessive", which warranted the flagrant 2.

The elbow to Baker wasn't the only 'coincidental' taken. Cotton took one to the grapes earlier.

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I really don't give a crap. These guys have been playing long enough to know how to make totally intentional moves look unintentional. And I'm not going to say that the Shox don't do it either.

It's really the polar opposite of flopping. Both are deliberate moves that are meant to look unintentional and out of the players control.

I do not have a lot of knowledge of LDS but their name is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" is the official name of the religion commonly called the Mormon Church. That would seem to fit into some category of "Christian". You may not agree but why try to argue the point in a basketball discussion?

This.Watch the replay of when all three guards were on the floor. Mullet Man shoved the third player out of the way plain as day and was jumping on Cotton. The announcers said Austin struggles with fouls. It's because he isn't as athletic as his D-1 counterparts but is strong enough to keep up for the most part.
