maybe he's a bit down in the mouth. his hopes of coaching in the acc were dashed when maryland commited to the big1 conference. that's the way it goes sometimes, coach.

    • I was thinking about something yesterday, and my thoughts were confirmed after looking it up. If you want to talk about 2010 being lightning in a bottle for the Little Engine That Could from Frostbite Falls....

Northern Iowa has not won a game in St. Louis since beating us in the 2010 final. They lost in the 4-5 game in '11 and '12 and lost as a 3 seed against ISU-Red last year. Yes, they'll always be very sound fundamentally and well coached...and if you catch them on a night that the opponent become disinterested with guarding the perimeter, they can win games against better teams. Unfortunately, they are unlikely to be a huge force.

THAT SAID, I did forgive them for beating us in the Arch Madness final when they got their last win of that season. That was enjoyable.

      • This might be a silly question, but I'll ask anyways: Could the loss of Dalonte Hill be hurting Maryland a lot? I had the impression that he was primarily a recruiter and his loss wouldn't hurt them as much with regard to in-game coaching, but I could be wrong.

You are not wrong about Hill. I don't what is wrong with Maryland other than a terminal sense of entitlement that goes back to the Gary Williams era.

I am not sure that MT has the personality to coach (kick their butts) it out of them... that and I think they have had some injuries to key players..

Speaking of Frostbite Falls, I will never forget the Rocky and Bullwinkle episode where R and B won a trip to "Glamorous Wichita, Kansas."

I was so impressed, and Rocky and Bullwinkle were super excited....

I believe that the 8 guys that get the majority of the minutes were ALL top 150 players when they signed, with about half being 4* top 100. There is plenty of "talent" for the Terps, but not sure why they are a middling BCS program.

              • Uhh, anybody else catching this? Cleveland State leading #3 Kentucky 54-44 AT Kentucky with under 8 to go. What are the odds lots of foul calls are gonna start piling up for Cleveland State?

Kentucky, proving again, they are an overrated joke.

That is like saying Vermont would get screwed by the referee's if they were playing @ Duke and leading late. ESPN wouldn't allow them to lose.

Do we have to institute a rule to not talk about upsets just like you don't talk about a no hitter, because Cleveland St. has promptly given up a 12-0 run to trail by 2.

                    • Offensive Foul on Cleveland State.

CSU best big just fouled out battling for position.

It's pretty predictable. Two weakass phantom foul calls in a row. I'm pretty sure that would have happened regardless, but yes I'm sorry for jinxing it.

I'm not watching, just following the gametracker. What just happened with the technical fouls?

                          • Officiating is so screwy. Nobody is gonna talk about the refs getting UK back in it. They just assume Kentucky "came back". The refs could call 12 fouls in a row on Cleveland State and most of the media wouldn't give a damn, because God forbid, we have to make sure Kentucky wins because they are definitely better than Cleveland State. And that's just that.

It's on ESPN3 and I honestly missed it as I was posting on here. DSB, did you catch it?

                              • I had swapped back to BYU/Texas and missed it.

Sorry. Didn't even hear the announcers talk about it, until the offensive foul caused the CSU big to foul out.
