I'm guessing a bunch of free throws.

Actually, not. Belmont outscored the Trees 18-5 in the first 5 minutes of the second half and shot 0 FTs.

It wasn't until Belmont was 6-8 points up with 1:30 left and they added 7 made throws late to end up with 16 made for the half.

          • Terrible turnaround. You can't blow 16 point leads like that.

            One bid here we come!
            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

Speaking of Jake White, wouldn't he have fit in the William & Mary team quite well?

Not to digress but Jake is missed by yours truly.

Agreed. I would like to know his points per minute when on the floor with FVV. Those two were very good when they were in the game together.

It's way early, but I don't see anyone else in the Valley that is close to deserving of a bid. I see a lot of good things happening in the Valley, Bradley seems to be turning things around the right way, I really, really like Giacoletti at Drake, and UNI is a somewhat stable quality team. As Jake goes, so goes UNI, a breakout year every few, usually a 3-5 finish. The rest, I just don't know...

Indiana State was supposed to be good, but after the other night, who the hell knows? Evansville is, well, Evansville. Even with Colt, Evansville was nothing more than a pain in the ass. Now Colt's gone. I can't even stand to look at Missouri State, their fans are so full of ****, I don't even look at what they are doing. I think they are still trying to sell the bullshit that they were willing to give Cuonzo a big raise and the last time I looked at anything Missouri State, they were talking about how they were willing to pay Martin's replacement in the $750,000-$1mm range. That is up from their claims a few years ago on MVCFans- back then, it was $600,000... All from a bunch of ignorant, moonshine swilling inbreds that had to sell their cattle herd to stay afloat. Hilarious!!!

I like Barry, but SIU is a mess, Illinois State is such a disaster that the victims of the Titanic are looking down from Heaven feeling sorry for Redbird fans. Illinois State WOULD lose to UNO this year! And if Jake White were eligible this year, even in a knee brace, UNO wins by 30. Sad but true. And then there is the Creighton replacement, Loyola... Not Marymount, Chicago. Porter Moser. Nice guy, bad coach. Big city, Loyola, no exposure Loyola. The Valley replaced Creighton with a washed up, underfunded, ex-Creighton player as coach.... Impressive.

I have several relatives at different Valley schools, three on athletic scholarships, none in basketball. I will continue to follow the Valley, I will still support the Valley and blindly defend the Valley to eliitist, BCS honks, but this year, outside of Wichita State, it looks like this will be a tall task. Like the consummate Cubs fan I am, there is always next year, always next year. I wonder what the Springfield moonshine will taste like next year...

Sorry about the rant. Carry on.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

                          • I think I know the problem with Indiana State, they are relying too much on 113 year old Eddie Morales:

                              This was pretty good.
