It's way early, but I don't see anyone else in the Valley that is close to deserving of a bid. I see a lot of good things happening in the Valley, Bradley seems to be turning things around the right way, I really, really like Giacoletti at Drake, and UNI is a somewhat stable quality team. I like Barry, but SIU is a mess, Illinois State is such a disaster that the victims of the Titanic are looking down from Heaven feeling sorry for Redbird fans. Illinois State WOULD lose to UNO this year! And if Jake White were eligible this year, even in a knee brace, UNO wins by 30. Sad but true. And then there is the Creighton replacement, Loyola... Not Marymount, Chicago. Porter Moser. Nice guy, bad coach. Big city, Loyola, no exposure Loyola. The Valley replaced Creighton with a washed up, underfunded, ex-Creighton player as coach.... Impressive.
I have several relatives at different Valley schools, three on athletic scholarships, none in basketball. I will continue to follow the Valley, I will still support the Valley and blindly defend the Valley to eliitist, BCS honks, but this year, outside of Wichita State, it looks like this will be a tall task. Like the consummate Cubs fan I am, there is always next year, always next year. I wonder what the Springfield moonshine will taste like next year...
