KU is more than Wiggins and Ellis. I would love to have Wayne Seldon. Duke, Kansas and Michigan St deserve to be ranked ahead of us. I would really like our chances against UK.

The only way to find out is to play the game.

Michigan State is very, very good.

We match up best with KU, I'd stick Ron on Seldon, Fred on Naadir, and Tekele can hold his own against Wiggins well enough. Ells v. Early would be tough, Cle would have to stay out of foul trouble. Coleby v. Black would be a draw.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

The better comparison for Kentucky is their 2012 team that won the national championship. They lost a close game to Indiana at the start of that season and built on that, and really started to roll. I expect the 2014 version to get consistently better. They do appear to have issues at the PG position based on the tweets from the experts today, so that might hinder their progress, but Randle download is unstoppable once he gets going. Much like Anthony Davis was in 2012, but with far more offensive fire power. By the end of the year, I think they will be the best of the four. KU could possibly get close to them, but I am not as sold on their talent across the board. Michigan State is the best right now, but I think their ceiling is not as high. They are the team most like us. Experience and toughness, but the clock simply was starting to run out on them last night.

Big games tonight for ORU (@ KSU) and DePaul (vs. Southern Miss).

The Meltdown in Title Town will be amazing if Oral Bob wins.

Not to jump around, but our guard depth has me worried sick. Fred and Ron cannot be playing 35 minutes every game. Wessel and Wiggins are not ballhandling guards. Get Fred or Ron in foul trouble and we really are going to be testing new waters. Ron is a great 2-3 but he is not a point guard. Guess Rian's redshirt could be pulled anytime during the year if needed.

I am not worried at all at this point. Coach definately feels we have good depth and so do I. They won't be the first college players to average 30+ mins a game. Happens all the time when you have really good players. They play majority of the minutes. Coach has it under control. We are plenty deep right now. The QUALITY of depth can always improve. But we have the bodies to rest the best players enough.

Ron is a good PG. Fred is an EXCELLENT PG. Cotton is a serviceable PG. We haven't had much of a drop at any position in the past 4 + years. This year we have a talent gap at PG. Most teams do. Playing 35 mpg is how you compensate. I'm not worried.

There will be quite a few games where Fred and Ron will have to play 35 minutes, but I think they will average closer to 30 to 32 minutes per game over the season. Once you get into the post season then you can shorten your roster because any loss gives you more than enough time to rest up.

Not really a game of interest...

                    Abilene Christian (first year D1) - 30
                    Maryland - 29
                    half

I think a little too much is being made about players having to play 30+ mpg.

Last year's F4 teams' top mpg players for the season:

                        Michigan: 35.3/34.8/33.6/30.5

                        Syracuse: 35.2/34.9/33.8/29.5

                        Louisville: 31.2/31.1/30.3/26.1

                        Wichita State: 28.6 (Hall)/28.6 (Armstead)/25.1 (Early)

We were the exception, not the rule. This year, we may have 3 players with minutes like Louisville, but I doubt like Michigan or Syracuse.

I have been pleasantly surprised (and in retrospect I don't know why) on the amount of fouls we haven't been called for so far this year. I think we have adjusted very well--better than most--to the new rules. In those ways I think we would cause a lot of problems for both of them.
It could be that the new rule just might happen to be the best thing that happened to the Shockers.

Bullcrap to anybody that says we wouldn't straight up beat the beakers right now. We'd beat 'em. And HC3GM has extended plenty of offers for them to prove otherwise. Until they do, the Shox are the best team in Kansas.
