Here's the history of Hawkin's recruitment:
Marshall hired Dana Ford on the condition that Ford would give WSU at least two years. Ford agreed to that, even though it was not written into his contract. Marshall assigned Ford to recruit Hawkins and gave him the budget that WSU assigns to key recruits. Ford successfully recruited Hawkins using WSU $$.
Hawkins failed to qualify out of HS, so WSU used their resources to place Hawkins in a prep school where he would have nothing but basketball, academics, and cornfields within 40 miles.
Ford broke his oral commitment to stay 2 years and went to Illinois State. Hawkins renewed his verbal commitment to WSU shortly after the start of his prep school year. October 17, 2012 Hawkins reopened his recruitment by announcing a visit to Ohio State, which seemed to be showing little if any interest in recruiting him.
At the semester break of his prep school year, Hawkins was dismissed from the basketball team and dropped out of prep school. Ford ducked the handshake line when IlSU visited WSU. There was an incident involving the coaching staffs outside the Shocker's locker room when WSU visited IlSU.
Hawkins showed up at IlSU for the summer semester and is enrolled there for the fall semester. WSU spent the $$ to create the connection between Ford and Hawkins. Ford broke his 2-year commitment to go to IlSU. I think it's pretty obvious that Ford used the connection he had with Hawkins (based on the money WSU spent to create the connection) to recruit Hawkins to IlSU.
IlSU fans are whining that Marshall is a p**** because he's making Hawkins miss two games when the league has a two-year sit-out rule to prevent this exact situation from happening.
I'm pretty confident WSU fans will never refer to Muller as a p****. We may refer to him as a "loser". I suppose it goes with the territory that fans of teams whose coach is referred to as a "loser" are likely to refer to coaches of F4 teams as p****s.
