  • Valley Rules On Deontae Hawkins

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

Hawkins is a non-qulifier and will have to sit out the entire 2013-2014 season. He's also required to miss both regular-season games against WSU in 2014-2015.

I think Elgin sometimes just makes stuff up as he goes.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    This is exactly it.

"We don't want to completely disregard the intra-conference transfer rule so we'll make him miss the WSU games."

We can't rule out the possibility that Marshall was involved in this compromise. Ultimately, since he's a non-qualifier, Hawkins is only losing two games due to the transfer rule, rather than an entire season.

The only people with a real gripe will be the other eight Valley schools who will have to play against him in 2014-15, assuming he makes it that far.

What an odd resolution to this issue.

I agree that this looks to be some sort of Marshall-Muller-Elgin compromise, where all sides seem to have received a fair shake.

I also agree that other Valley schools have a legitimate beef. Imagine if Dougie didn't get to play against UNI in recent seasons, that could have had a major effect on the Valley race.

I'm still not sure any of it will ever come to fruition.

Definitely goofy, but I agree, dizzle -- what are the odds Teddy is still in school at that point?

Teddy has had academic problems since Christ was a corporal. I don't see how they can be resolved at this late date. Its too bad because the young man could have been a big factor on any team he played with. I would like to see him do well at this stage of his life. A question about the valley tournament 2014-2015. If we happen to play each other I guess that would be the only time we would ever see him in action against us right?

Wrong. He burnt one year in prep school, he's burning this year at ISU in hopes of becoming qualified, it also counts as his transfer year. Hawkins has next year and two after to complete his four years of eligibility over five years.

Or did he go to juco?
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I think he will have three years of eligibility after this year. Screw it, I'm now confused. He will have three years if he flunked out of prep school and two years if he flunked out of juco.

                I need a drink.

Seven years if he goes the Grant Gibbs route.

The article says he has 4 years to play 4. He burnt one of his 5 years, but can still play 4. I'm not sure I believe the article though, that's rare.

Regardless of where he's flunked out, eventually he has to qualify academically to a D1 school for any of this to matter.

So what happens if we have to play them in St. Louis? Does he play then?

I understand he will play then because the resolution is only limited to the regular season games, but it seems odd.

"Starting with the 2014-15 campaign, Hawkins will have four years to complete his four years of eligibility."

Prep school doesn't start the eligibility clock. His clock starts this semester.

But he is academically ineligible, so he loses a year. Crap, you still have five to complete four, so he will have four for four starting next year. Unless he's related to Grant Gibbs.

                              We have a winner.
