    I'm pleased to read this:

Shockers coming to a radio station near you — eventually

Maness didn't have what will likely be three straight NCAA tournament appearances, including a Final Four, to market with.

I understand. We also have the Ron Baker factor. However, I still think it will be a tough sell and a somewhat of a longshot. But like Maness said there are other avenues available to fans such as internet streaming these days.

            A) with technology being the way it is, why bother?

            B) develop a completely interactive app with stats and radio and video as available and call it good. Hit every Shocker fan in the country.

I don't own a smartphone and probably won't until they drag me kicking and screaming to one. So I still like being able to listen on the radio, without the crappy reception that comes from being on the edge of the coverage area for an AM station.

You also aren't going to reach the casual listener if you aren't on the radio dial.

Doesn't have to be on a smart phone. You are on a computer for Shockernet. You could get the game, the video feed, and instead of idiot announcers listen to Mike. Sounds like a win win.

Dis Maness really try? I know KU and KSu are everywhere but there are a lit of radio stations out there.

I wonder how much Maness really worked on this. Maybe he did, but I don't think he'd put the effort into it that they're going to.

And yes, there are other avenues, but when I'm in the car, I need a radio broadcast. Luckily, I live close enough to Wichita that it's not a big issue for me, but others aren't so lucky. And the casual listener isn't reached outside of the immediate area. But you can expand radio coverage AND work on other avenues. And they should do both.

It will all boil down to an economic decision. If their is adequate money to be made by those participating in the network it will happen. If not it won't, regardless of how hard you work at making it happen.

I just saw a WSU banner ad on the Topeka Capital-Journal sports page website. I don't think I've seen one there before.
