I imagine it will look something like this, since the camera nest used to be way up top, but on the bench side.

Here is a bit older yet, with the camera high opposite the bench. Big Dog!

It looks like the new last row has 13 seats. So I'd guess closer to 40 seats lost with this. They'll definitely add seating where the cameras were but I'm not sure how many it'll add. Either way, capacity will drop back down under 10,500. I'd guess we'll end up around 10,490.

This is greatly appreciated and badly needed since the renovation. Certainly interested in whether Shockervision improves along with the new scoreboard, higher camera nest. I always used to purchase the yearly package, but it started to get so bad with reliability about 4 years ago, I dropped it. Time to give it another try.

I like the idea of a better angle for the TV cameras. It will only make Koch Arena that much more impressive on TV. Now Royal, I only have one request from you, don't be that guy who stands up in front of the camera and put his hands up every time a WSU player shoots a 3, we don't need your hands to get any TV time!!!

I just saw Royal leaving SportsTime with two of the foam #1 fingers just to be certain he gets on TV.

I guess I'm the only one who appreciated our unique camera angle? I always thought it was nice to have an "eye level" angle rather than birdseye view when watching on TV. Our guys looked bigger and I enjoyed the intimidation factor when watching in a bar with other fans :)

Well you no longer have to worry about watching home games at the bar now, fellow season ticket holder.

Even though I still have a birdseye view!

The low camera angle caused some to complain because it was harder to determine the spacing of players on the floor. It's easier to see the distance between players from a higher angle.

This shouldn't change at all with the new camera platform. The angle is the same no matter where you put the cameras. The camera angle is determined by the steepness (or lack of steepness) of the seating.

If it's 30 degrees below horizontal to the floor from the previous platform, it's 30 degrees below horizontal from the new platform. the improvement will come from full-court views and crowd shots, which will benefit from the higher location and the added distance.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

That's only true if measured to the base of the seating area and only if the slope doesn't change from low to high. The angle to the center of the floor will definitely be steeper from the higher position. It will also slightly change horizontal angle as the camera pans from one end of the court to the other.

CBS pay for the new platform since they're taking over the broadcast rights?

Frankly, I prefer the old camera angle.

And in regards to attendance, it won't really hurt us. We averaged 10,312 last year, and with a max capacity of 10,500, any improvement would have only helped us past Colorado and Nebraska. Even without this platform, we can't pass Vanderbilt at 10,637. So, this shouldn't change attendance in any significant way.

Solution to capacity issues: knock out 5 rows of 2 sections; add a bar that extends back towards the atrium; sell a few hundred "standing room only" tickets.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
