  • Shaq Morris

I was going to put this in the Coleby thread, but I think Shaq deserves his own thread.

I think Shaq is the post-player equivalent of FVV. By the latter part of the season, I expect Shaq will be a regular and productive backup post. He was the MVP of the OK/TX All-Stars game playing PF, so he might see time as a 4/5 combo.

Shaq had (I believe) 5 blocks in the All-Star game. You don't get 5 blocks weighing 280, unless you have some quick and high ups at that weight.

From what I've picked up, Morris had some work ethic issues through his Jr. HS year. He was still rated a top-150 player by some services. It appears he resolved the "work ethic" issue during his Sr. year, but that was too late for the services to evaluate him during a summer AAU session.

I think Morris is looking like a 4-star guy. It's easy to get over-excited about recruits, but I think Morris has shown that he's going to be huge for the Shox over his career.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I've been BIG on Shaq for awhile and agree that he'll be a contributor this year. When will he step up and be a factor, I don't know, but I think the Valley better be ready for this young beast. The kid is an athlete, even at 280. The things KR will do with this kid while he's here, ain't nobody in the MVC going to be able to stop him down the road. I predict he'll be on the All-Freshman team this year and he's starting next season.

What I really like about HCGM is his ability to identify HS players who are under the radar but who have tremendous potential that seems to blossom after they've commited to WSU. Shaq appears to be one of those, similar to FVV. I'm looking forward to watching this kid develop.

Listening to 1410 this am they said the same thing about Bill Snyder, he has the ability to identify those kids that become over achievers and become not only very good athletes but even better young men. I think that can be said about our staff at WSU.

good thing about being 280 and in this program..

he can easily get to 260 and be a better athlete then coming in...

Been excited for Shaq to come in and he seems like a pretty good kid even though I only have twitter to base that off of.
