As I recall, the media stories, blogs, and message boards at the time UNO dropped football and wrestling back up MoValley John's assessment.

Maybe that is floor burns for all the charges he took here that were called blocks. Jake would see our foes come bulling in like a rodeo while out of control like a runaway freight train, Jake would get set like a statue, not even twitching one eye-lash for one week prior, get mowed down flatter than a leftover pancake, hear the whistle, look up while bruises begin to puff up like a rain cloud, only to again be called for still another blocking call that was a charge all the way. Yipes, stripes, beechnut gum!!!

Jake's game hasn't transformed as much as I thought it would. He still hustles his butt off, crashes the boards with reckless abandon, still hasn't hit the weights and still ends up on the deck more than any 3 other players.

And his team usually plays better when he's on the floor. And on cue he gets called for the block.

I'm laughing at Dave Armstrong having to do the PBP. It's got to be killing him to have to do this game and not be pleasuring himself watching ku just down the street.

No way. The NCAA specifically rewrote the rulebook last year to try to encourage people to STOP trying to draw charges, mostly in response to Jake White's Soph. season.

According to espn, Jake White finally started for UNO and had 8 rebounds and 2 points on 1/6 shooting.

That sounds like Jake White to me :)

Sometimes in summer scrimmages I would witness Jake draining shots from far far away, rebounding like a rock star, and making a positive difference in such games. My own body still aches reflecting on the oodles of charges he took while being mowed down like a runaway freight train while standing perfectly still for days, only to be called for a blocking foul in real games. He had to have broken a world record that will never be listed in a record book but never forgotten by we Shocker fans.

I recall a game against a pretty decent Detroit team and they had a guy named Minnerath
who was having a huge day and keeping Detroit close. With about ten minutes to go
Jake subbed and began to guard him. He shut him down and we pulled away. Could sure
use that 6'8 PF now and rebounding.

In addition to drawing the un-called charge, I remember the multiple one-handed rebounds Jake had with opponent player(s) holding his other arm.

"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Dare I say that Jake should have just stayed? I have no doubt he would be starting on this team right now. He is a 6'8" Evan Wessel.

                              I don't see it.

Maybe. Maybe not. I saw that he is averaging 7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 19 minutes for UNO and thought that would sure fit in nicely right there in the middle of the big drop off production on our roster.
