I would add that as soon as UNO becomes relevant, the mvc better snatch them right up. I can't wait to have the other school from Omaha there to replace CU. They would be more of an ally at that point, hating creighton right along with us :) maybe that's a terrible idea.

The Jake White we all remember may have of set an unrecorded worlds record for taking charges, only to have them called blocking fouls. What? Are ya kiddin me? Jake would be totally set like a statue, not even twitch a solitary nerve or muscle, waiting--waiting--waiting-and then get steam-rolled and flattened like a leftover pancake on the passing lane of a freeway at rush-hour, only to hear the 'groundhog day' whistle which resulted in still another "2nd verse-same as the first" charging call. Some Quarterbacks in the NFL have not been smashed that often? I myself in such a role would be requesting shoulder pads, a helmet, and purchase extra insurance with health, dental, and collision, even if I was playing basketball, knowing that I was going to get such abuse to no avail.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Hahaha jake white is a LEGEND. Jake white even brought FSF out of the woodwork and that's been hard to do lately on SN.

I REALLY hope Shaq has the same knack for taking charges. I'd love to see a 6'1" unathletic mvc guard smash into a 275 lb guy.

And then see Shaq fall to the ground hard like he got bit by a truck.

I would sure love to see UNO outperform any other D-1 colleges in Omaha this season. Isn't there another university up there? I'm pretty sure there is a tiny 7,000 student private school with no basketball arena, few true fans who aren't divided and a really poor outlook for 2104-15.

UNO is twice the size of CU. Lots of graduates up there waiting for their alma mater to have a good run. What I wouldn't do to get to watch a season with Nebraska and UNO doing better than CU.

My favorite part is that it is entirely possible that UNO could have a better RPI than CU this season.
I'm with you in general, but overall, the whole city of Omaha blows.

You'd also have to consider that since most of the Creighton fanbase are fair-weather bandwagon fans, that once the UNO train starts rolling, all of them will start jumping on them. Basically, you'll have the same group of douchebags that were once Creighton fans, now UNO fans. So they'll al just end up being the same douchebags who'd rather sip martinis at games than actually watch a basketball game.

              Well....
For anyone interested, UNO might be a school to keep an eye on for future Valley expansion. They, like Wichita State, are growing. As for sports, athletics are doing surprisingly well for a school that recently transitioned to D-1. Next year, Jake White will play in UNO'S brand new arena. It will seat 7,500 for hockey and over 8,000 for basketball. I've driven past the construction a few times and it looks pretty cool. It is just south of UNO'S innovation campus. Here is a video of the arena. Larger than three current Valley arenas. http://youtu.be/-jb-AS73gPM

Anyway, UNO isn't ready for the Valley today, but when MSU leaves for greener pastures in the Sun Belt, UNO might be a perfect fit.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

The Super Bowl is the premier TV event of the year, always drawing – by far – the largest audience, and often setting records. The 2014 Super Bowl on Fox was another rousing success: 111.5 million …

Wow... FS1 has terrible ratings. Not only does the article highlight the dismal ratings but also highlights how the true blue bloods of the old BE we're replaced by a Creighton, X, Butler (w/o BS).

FS1 has got to be hurting the nBE (or is it the other way around)??? Ouch!

I was, and still am, rooting for FS1/FS2 to succeed, up to a point. Thanks to ESPNU and ESPN3, we get to see more Shocker games than ever. If FS1/FS2 can gain enough viewers to be relevant without causing ESPN to can one of their outlets, then perhaps the Valley and WSU will be in a position to negotiate a better TV deal with more nationally televised games that might actually be revenue-positive without Elgin having to sell the advertising. Whether that deal and games are on a Fox Sports product or ESPN isn't a concern, again, as long as FS1/FS2 are relevant and stable.

Yeah, he's going to have a really tough time selling it. It will be like that time EO blocked a shot so high that they called goaltending just because it looked impossible. I want to see Shaq take the first charge I've ever seen where the guard gets called, but the defender didn't actually fall down.

Didn't realize Jake had blown out a knee last year. Looks like he's healed and ready to go.

The Omaha men's basketball team has completed its first official week of practice in preparation for 2014-15, seeing its newcomers alongside its veterans for the first time.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

"It's been a year since Jake's injury, and the most important thing we've seen in this first week is that he has confidence in his knee,” Hansen said “He doesn't shy away from physical contact, and he's playing the same way he played before the injury."

That is correct, coach Hansen. He doesn't shy away from physical contact. Sounds like he is back to his true form.
