I think Creighton is seeded a bit too high - Echenique was an important cog for that team and they just don't have a replacement. Anyone else feel that the wheels are going to come off them after Doug McDermott graduates?

I think Ebracket might be reading here and jumped the Shocks up a notch. Looks like we're the first 6 seed.

WSU-Alabama can't happen, but Indiana State-Creighton can, which is still just weird thinking about. That would be pretty awesome if true. Even more awesome if the Sycamores laid an ass-whopping to sCUm.

In that case, I like ISUb's chances of getting out of the first round. We know how much CU struggles

Didn't know that. Thanks for the heads-up. When you're talking about conference rematches, you're talking about after the first 2 rounds then or is it all up for grabs?

Don't know if the wheels will fall off, but they'll take a step back.

But they're also going to struggle some this year without the big guy. He was important to them on both ends of the court.

Uhhh, I've been on that bandwagon for a while now. They got so freaking LUCKY with Gibbs coming back. If that prayer wasn't answered, they'd be in trouble this year even. After next year, they will begin their decent down with the DePauls, Seton Halls, and Providences of the conference. They're gonna be in over their heads.

It is all up for grabs. The committee will release the details tomorrow but they are correcting what happened to Oregon last year. So WSU can play Alabama.

I do think Creighton will be ranked 24 or so in the country by the time the tourney starts so their seed is right. Creighton will benefit from Stevens leaving Butlet

My only concern with the rule of allowing OOC and Conference rematches in the opening round is that if it's to cut down on all the major conferences and making them play each other, then fine. If it's intended to be another screw job for midmajors. Instead of consistenly pairing up mid's against each other, now they can even pair up mids that played conference games together. I would highly doubt they would do that, but it's the NCAA....

We will see what the unintended consequences are. It's an effort to keep a team's true seed instead of dropping a seed to avoid an OOC or conference matchup. I think the Committee will still stay away from conference matchups until the Round of 32 but will allow OOC matchups in the Round of 64

Funny how we beat Ohio State--who lost their best player--and they are a 2 Seed while we are now a 6.

They should put any team coached by HCGM at least a 5 seed if not better. I dont care if its a group of 5th graders.

Yeah, seriously. We should all be so lucky to meet the Fighting Sweater Vests on the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. Nearly automatic advancement to the next round for anyone opposite of them.

I think that's a bit harsh. I think they'll definitely fall down after Doug goes to the NBA, but that's because I think Daddy McDermott is simply not that good of a coach. Without having an AA for a son, he never would have been able to get a player of his ability to go to Creighton, and I think he probably would have been fired by now. Without Doug, and the increase in competition, I think he gets exposed as a coach.

I do think Creighton as a program is much stronger than the DePauls, Seton Halls, and Providences, though. I don't think a team with their financial strengths and attendance figures will struggle long term.

Nobody was recruiting Doug. He ("the player of this caliber") was going to Northern Iowa prior to going to Creighton. Even his own daddy didn't think that he was capable of playing at Iowa State. Recruiting isn't an exact science and even the best make serious errors. That's one reason why recruiting services should be looked upon within context.
