    • We don't have to win all of them but we do need to win some and maybe most.

      • The Shockers will need to make hay (or wheat) during the OOC. I'm sure most outsiders expect WSU to win the Valley regular season, with somewhat of a gaudy record doing it, and the Valley tourney. Anything less than that will hurt. The Shocks can not afford to lose any games to the likes of W Kentucky, DePaul, Tulsa, or Davidson and need to split the better games if they are to have a solid seeding and stay ranked. We have set the bar high. If we want to be considered like a Gonzaga, we need to show solid consistency........starting this year. There are writers, pollsters, and the such out there that figure WSU will stumble and fall out of the limelight. It's time to put up or shut up.

        • I hear what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure they "put up" last April.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

Maybe you're not hearing it loud enough. I'm not in the least bit minimizing what our Shockers did last year. For our own historical purposes, last year was monumental and the way we played Louisville extraordinaire. Nothing can take those moments and achievements away from us.

However, outside of Shockerland, this year is the proof of the pudding. It may very well define us as a one hit wonder (remember our last S16) or a legitimate, big time player. Believe me, recruiters are using last year's performance as a flash in the pan happening. They'll point out: did WSU win their league title, did they win their league tournament? No. They'll say we got hot at just the right time.

If we want to get more highly rated players, if we want to have a chance at a better conference, it starts now! With the F4 performance, we got everyone's attention and they'll all being watching closely. That target is squarely on our backs. With HCGM at the helm, a less than expected performance may not hurt us too much, but a solid season will be huge for our future.

                • I'm pretty much giving up the thought of us actually getting a game in Dallas.

                  • If the Dallas game does indeed fall through and not happen, GM needs to mention that on every national interview he does. We are a Final Four team and could very easily have another monumentally successful season this year (translate...HIGH RPI, GOOD FOR STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE). If this was anyone other blue blood powerhouse, teams would be lining up for a shot. Granted, we don't have the cache of a Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, etc., but we have basically been a Top 50 team the last four years. I'd say that is a decent enough track record to warrant good competition. There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to find a solid team to play. If it doesn't happen, then when (insert moderately good BCS team) misses out on the NCAA Tournament next year because of a horrible non-conf SOS, that coach better answer to why he didn't take an opportunity to play Wichita State early in the season.

                    • It was so late in the game that there was little chance the game in Dallas was going to happen. The majority of the Top 50-75 schools already had their schedules full and those that didn't had to have one specific day open for this to work out. Like I said when this was announced we had less than a 20% chance of this happening and that was probably even higher than the actual odds. Hell, if we did get the game in Dallas we would be on cloud nine about our schedule. Even without the Dallas game we have a very solid non-con schedule. I am just praying we don't drop the final four banner when we play a crappy D2 team since that is what it's looking like we are going to get for our home opener this year.

Early in the season is the best time you want to be playing Wichita State, not late in the season when we're really angry.

I don't know about that, I think this team is still angry that they were 40 minutes away from a national championship. I think these guys play angry all season.

                              • Texas Longhorns' leading returning scorer, Ionnis Papapetrou, has signed a lucrative deal to play overseas with Olympiacos BC, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.

Texas loses another top player.... I think they may struggle to have a winning record again this year.
