They keep bragging about conference affiliation but nobody knows or cares about them. Except Providence actually has been to a Final Four.
Yep, those schools are riding the coat tails but they are slick and they keep falling off.

Conference affiliation doesn't mean as much as they want to believe. Still gotta DO something, won't happen just by being in this "major" conference. They are a smaller fish in a slightly bigger pond now.

    • The Sweater Vests, as expected, are now bragging about getting to play in cosmopolitan cities where they can sip their strawberry daiquiris from their pink straws with people like them. I guess somebody should tell them places like Lawrence, Lexington, East Lansing, and Chapel Hill aren't large and cosmopolitan enough to support big-time college basketball.

Their arguments/analogies are about as well fit as a DoubleJayAlum or RandomJaysFan squeezing into a large-sized sweater vest. Speaking of Double-sized Jay Alum (Atty Alum on the sCUm board), I see that he is back to commenting on his favorite subject - WSU. I wonder if he'll continue tweeting and making fun of rape like he did a few months ago with his new conference mates?

      ... No really, deuces.

      • Great news on Tennessee.

So looks like we will know all of our non-conference schedule.

November 11th - Midnight - Western Kentucky (Home, ESPN Tip Off Marathon)
        November 20th - 7 pm - Tulsa (Road)
November 25th - 9 pm - vs. DePaul (CBE) (Neutral, Kansas City)
November 26th - vs. Texas or BYU (CBE) (Neutral, Kansas City)
December 1st - Saint Louis (Road)
December 7th - Oral Roberts (Home)
December 14th - 1 pm - Tennessee (Intrust Bank Arena)
December 17th - Alabama (Road) (Suellentrop mentioned they are looking to move this game from the 18th to the 17th)
        December 29th - Davidson (Home)

*We will have either a November 8th game in Dallas or a November 9th game against a Non-Division Opponent per Kansas.com article
** November ?? - Two CBE Games (Home) - Probably 3rd week of November

Thanks for putting that together. I do think you mean November 8th for the game in Dallas, though.

AdvancedTip: Don't bring weak college basketball smack talk around when the team you root for hasn't done anything useful in the tournament in your lifetime.

ExpertTip: Definitely don't do it when the best thing you can name about your school is the other teams with which it happens to be affiliated.

ProTip: Absolutely don't do the above on the forum of a team that literally just went to the Final Four.
Keeee-lassic. That's, like, print it off and hang it on the wall stuff right there.

                • Nice summary of the schedule, EB. This is the best-looking group of nonconference games I've seen for WSU in quite a while. Too bad Creighton couldn't fit in there -- maybe they'd like to come to Dallas? That seems like a natural for a promoter now that they're in the mighty Big East.

                  • We'd be settling with a Creighton.

I'd want a name with bigger pop. Maybe like a Nebraska? An Iowa? Or maybe Iowa State? Sure, they're not elite programs, but they'd be more recognizable than a Creighton.

                    • Left off the Charleston Southern game. Hopefully this is correct now.

                      • I'd like to join in the Creighton bashing, too, but God ... it's just not even that fun anymore. It's like Boston College fans bragging about being in the ACC.

While I think the new Big East owns more of a right to the Big East history than the AAC does -- it's still the "new" Big East for a reason. Louisville and Syracuse were never members of this conference.

                            Money. TV access. Better opponents.

There is not one fan who would ever consider trading last year's Final Four for a different conference, though. Your hope for joining a different conference is to one day gain the level of success that we already have.

                            • Isn't the Tennessee game the 2nd game of a 4 game series?

According to this article, it was just a 2 game home/home series: http://www.kansas.com/2012/06/09/236...-a-better.html
