I was expecting Ron to be shooting 2 free throws coming back from the timeout and maybe even getting a Flagrant 1 call for the blow to Ron's head.

Instead no free throws and no ball.

That was a tough break. However, I do not think that was the turning point in the game. However, I really don't want to say what I did think was the turning point because it really doesn't matter at this point and I don't want to say anything negative about any of these very fine young men that have represented Shocker Nation so well this year.

    Hell of a job, Shocks!

best thing is, though, that wichita state will be ranked #1 next year.. at some point.

          • Louisville just played their toughest game thus-far at this here Dance. They may have an easier final game than this was.

              • I wonder if the heroes will be there for the rest of the tourney? Or fly back tomorrow? I'd like to be out there to welcome them back

Was not a speech really. Bad choice of words on my part. He was interviewed after the game on Channel 12 and was choked up but still able to say very soothing words of how proud he was of our Shockers for a great Season and mentioned a very bright future and we are coming back.

                  • last jump ball

Somewhere back here a page or 2, someone said the last jump ball was the correct call. For that to be true, both players involved have to have 2 hand on the ball & the Louisville player only had one hand on the ball, so the ref's blew that one! I don't understand why they didn't go review it on the tape to make sure!

                    • Someone said that in reply to what the announcers said postgame. During the game they agreed it should have been either a foul on UL or no jump ball.

There's been continual improvement under HCGM every year he's been here, why expect anything else next year?
Fact: This was so fun, we all want to keep meeting in April like this next Season and the next, etc.

Dream: After they pick us 4th in the Valley again next Season, let's just win us a National Championship.

                        • Two thoughts: 1) the best two teams in the Final Four played in the first game tonight. I have no doubt we would be national champs had we won today.
                          2) If Ware doesn't get injured, we win tonight. Not because they were on some emotional high because of it, but because them winning this game had not nearly as much to do with their press as they would normally expect, and had everything to do with some unexpected guys stepping up and hitting threes that probably wouldn't have been in those positions had Ware been active. How many games this year did Louisville connect for 9 threes? I bet no more than a few.

                          • I'd like to say to the Eagle staff-- YOU SUCK! How do you not ask Carl Hall a post-game question? Go eff yourself Lutz.

I know this is partly just blowing off steam after a tough loss.

But I don't think anyone can say if we will be as good a team next year as this (and I'm talking before the final 4 run). We return a lot and have good recruiting class coming in, but we lose two huge pieces and two other important parts. It's really hard to project imo. Maybe this isn't the time for my post, but I just don't want people to feel we have to match this amazing run for the program to be going in an excellent direction. There are great times ahead, we should have sky high expectations, but we also can't get complacent with success and feel like it is ever going to come without blood, sweat, tears, and some disappointments along the road.

Hard to say that. The game would have been different and we would have had a chance. But U of L missing a key reserve was a big advantage for us (just like missing Wessel was an advantage for thenm). For instance, lack of depth at guard changed how they could press once they got into a bit of foul trouble.
