Boneshock is a youngin - he's younger than me, so he's a youngin...
Brad Bone is running Hune music in the Topeka/KC area. never know though, Bone is pretty hip, he might know the White Stripes!! OK maybe not. Shockband is right, I am a youngin', a lot younger than him. How's the Social Security checks treatin' ya, shockband?

        Boneshock...

I just want to say the band sounds great this year. You're adding new songs while keeping the ol' favorites in the mix. The band doesn't get enough thanks in general, so I'm glad that someone started this thread.

Once upon a time I wore the ugly (sorry, they were), uncomfortable yellow and black striped 'bumblebee' woolen shirts for the band, and I look back on those days with great regard--even if the team sucked at that time (I've uttered the name before -- COHEN YEARS). I'm just glad to see they finally retired those old shirts. They were bad... if I remember right you couldn't dry them in a tumble dryer (with any heat anyway) without them shrinking an incredible amount. The collars were annoying too. Let me just say you all are lucky these days!

        Keep on rockin' guys.

Glad you enjoy it. Thanks for the kind words. I'll make sure to pass them on to the band. It's been a crazy year for the band, lots of drama. I know, I know, pep band drama! How funny! Things have been resolved and we're
looking forward to rockin' everybody's socks off the rest of the season. I wish I could run the band next year, but that would mean more school and I'm pretty sick of school. Oh well thanks again

With the 'Wichita' reference, Seven Nation Army is a natural. Plus, it rocks. Good work.

I hesitate to post this but..........
I went to another one of our state colleges' games this past weekend up in the northeast corner of the state (prior to getting home in time for the Shox) and their band was awesome. I wish we had more tubas and some more winds. Their mix is great. I know it's totally different because the available pool of talent to draw from is different.
Anyway, thanks for the refreshing new selections. And please eliminate the "Nu-Nu-Nu-NuhNuh" selection from the playlist. It's the oldest, lamest, most overplayed selection there is.

Actually, the talent pool is not different at all. Many of our players are from the KC area. Attendance at the games has been the #1 issue this year, partly because of fair weather fans in the band, and people just not honoring their commitment. Go to a girl's game or a guy's game against a UTA or Evansville and you'll only see 15- 20 members. Go to the Creighton or SIU game and it'll be packed up there. We do use a different instrumentation than most bands though. At the tournaments we are only allowed to have 29 players and 1 director. Your not going to hear flutes or clarinets in a big arena so we stick with more of a big band instrumentation.

I'm not sure I know the Nu-Nu-Nu-NuhNuh song. Does it have a name? I have know idea what song you're talking about.

I thought it might be that, but we don't play it so I was confused.

I think he may be referring to "25 or 6 to 4". And yes, thanks for the new tunes while keeping the better of the old. Everybody's Everything is still in the book, right? Back in my day, that was the tune we would play after the fight song at the end of the game.

As for keeping commitments, back in "my day", we didn't get our pay until the end of the season, and that was only if you (or a qualified sub that you got) were there for all scheduled games and rehearsals. Any unexcused or unsubbed absence and you got zilch at the end of the year. I well know that keeping commitments is something that is lacking in far too many young people today, and from what I see in my middle schoolers, it probably isn't improving.

Could be that one too I guess. We just started playing Everybody's again, usually during pregame. Just depends if I have the right drummer and trumpet players. I have to agree with your comment about kids these days, even the college kids. If they knew that we would give them nothing, they would stop showing up all together. My middle schools know no consequences for their actions, or should I say, lack of actions.
