Petro and Kevin Harlen were talking about the Shocks and the MVC earlier today on 810 in KC. Petro mentioned that the MVC was adding 2 schools from the Dakotas, said it like it was fact but didn't offer any source. I looked around online but couldn't find anything that supports him. Anyone know what he was talking about?

One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

Dennis Dodd of Yahoo Sports discusses UMKCs look from the MVC.

Oral Robert and Belmont out per Dennis...

That was the scuttlebutt a few weeks ago, but there has been nothing on these two schools since (except for this)

Turn those lemons into lemonade folks. UIC obviously is in a nice market. According to U.S. News & World Report, are ranked 147th I believe nationally, and have the nicest facilities in the Horizon League. You just have to have faith that improving their conference affiliation will translate into an improved product. More fans will attend their games at home, more money will be used to improve their infrastructure, the better players will be swayed more to play in the MVC rather than the HL. Keep your chin up.

The size of the market is not as important as the slice of that market that has any interest in you.

Most colleges in large sports markets have a hard time drawing large numbers of fans or interest unless they already have a long deep tradition to begin with...

Believe it or not, academic profiles of its member institutions are very important to conferences. Yes, we are talking about athletics, but if you believe for one minute that Valley Presidents could care less of the academic reputation of a potential member is, you're smoking crack. This will only help UIC's cause, it certainly won't diminish it.

My point is that it shouldn't matter. It is an association based solely on athletics. Considering other factors is like judging a crayon based on its smell.

UIC is building a new baseball facility, i believe. One of the Yankee players is paying for it. Granderson maybe?

I would prefer the Valley stay at nine schools for awhile until we see if there is a possiblility of getting some A-10 leftovers.

But at least UIC is in a large market. They probably don't get attention in that market but if they ever started winning on a regular basis they might.
