I'd let him drive past me, I wouldn't even breathe on him, and he's jonesing for the foul and free throws. I swatted a few of his shots into the yard, and then accidentally (I swear) put a Flagrant 1 elbow-to-head on him. He just ran into my elbow! Honest! Considering his height compared to mine, I was worried he was going to give me an Elijah. But he kept his cool and simply drained some long shots, which were followed with the shout "that's a big three!" He won 30-28, winning of course, "with a big three!"Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

That's so funny. Last night I was playing one-on-one with my 4 year old son. He said "Daddy, you are Carl Hall on the Shockers, and I will be Ron Baker on the bad guys." So we started playing and the little **** made 4 in a row. Of course, playing for the Shockers and being Carl Hall I couldn't let that stand so I started rejecting his little punk ass until I made him cry.
Okay, okay, the last sentence never happened, but the rest is true! He's going to experience a Final Four (and a National Championship if I have anything to say about it) and he's only four! He'll be bragging about that one day. :)

After going to my local Dillon's store at west 21st I walked in and they had become the biggest "bandwagoner's" I've seen. All these years it's been all KU & K State gear and very little WSU. Kinda pissed me off. Then again it exposes more people to our beloved Shockers. Still..............

I guess I'm your ultimate bandwagoner. I've only been here for a couple of years, but we're trying to get into the local scene. I've been to a few basketball games (my boys love it), and I cheer for the Shockers, but I have had no real emotional attachment to the program. Also, my boys and I love going to the Shocker baseball games (by the size of the crowds and from reading the baseball forum here, apparently we're about the only ones!).
This run has been great, and I've certainly gotten caught up in it, but if WSU loses Saturday night, I'll shrug it off pretty easily (much moreso than you guys of course). However, the important thing to note (and what I hope you guys appreciate) is that my boys are likely to be REAL WSU fans as they grow up here. They're 2 and 5 now, and they already talk about going to Shocker baseball games and get super excited about it. I want them to have that connection to their hometown university (and I can't stomach the idea of them becoming KU fans).
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that there are some lasting benefits to loading up the bandwagon for this run.

I was a little bitter about the bandwagoners during the '06 run, but got over it. I decided all the money and energy they spend supporting WSU, even for a short time, benefits the university and the community. Those are good things.
I do have to chuckle when they start whipping out stats and trivia about the Shockers on me and don't have all the details correct. I've learned to mostly smile and move on "These aren't the Shocker fans you're looking for." - ObiWan. :)Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

Some guy spotted me on Monday wearing my Shocker gear, and was like "Oh sure, now you wear Shocker gear. Where were you 8 months ago?" I was offended, because I've been a fan since 2006, when I decided to come to Wichita State (this was before the Sweet 16 run). I wasn't here during the 90's, but I saw my share of heartbreaking seasons (06-07, 07-08).
It just really bugged me to be accused of being a bandwagoner. I haven't been around a long time, but I've been die hard since I got here 7 years ago.Three things in life are constant- death, taxes, and Creighton losing in the first weekend of the tournament.

The mrs. recently acquired her degree from WSU. She wasn't a big fan of the sports, but this NCAA tourney run has got her all fired up when the games are on. She yells at the tv more than I do. The kids are all into it as well. Hopefully all 5 of them are future shockers.
I love all the "new" fans that we have now. I agree that the good thing about them is that some of them stick. I have a feeling that there will be a good number of fans that stick this time.
It seems that this team is bringing the community together. That is an extremely good thing. President Bardo couldn't have planned for a better scenario than this. Ever.

For all of you that are "worried" about appearing to be newbies to the Shocker support group I have some vintage 90's Shocker gear that I can sell you. They look well used so no one can call you a johnnie come lately. Just kidding but whenever I wear one of the old ones it brings back memories of when we were horrible and people would stare at my Shocker sweatshirt and either thought "Now that guy is a fan" or "That guy is nuts". Either way it was fun. Welcome to the House of WU where all are welcome.
