  • Eric Sexton: TEAM A or Team B?

There has been much discussion of virtues of our young AD. I figured I would roll out the question given that this Double Century Club member and (now former 110% donor) has opened up my SASO renewal form to find that I no longer have parking privileges after 15 years of personally (not thorough a business) writing the checks. I am pissed and yes, I have officially stand as a member of TEAM A.

Keep in mind that parking is a different issue at this point with the planned construction projects.

Is this a subtle way to show one's veteran posting pedigree? ;)

I am unsure whether I would join Team A or B right now.

I opened mine - I was disappointed that it didn't have the announcement saying Gene had been fired. So I am waiting to see if that happens in the next week before I renew.

Oh, I have calmed down and have to admit to posting in a huff, which for me, is rarely a good thing. I am back to TEAM A but readily and candidly admit to being disappointed in the lack of communication as it relates to the changes in parking and membership status. I hope this changes. I am very peeved that they (President Bardo) have taken the last rec field for parking. The Presidents are killing any semblance of traditional campus life. I seriously question the credibility of the land planners and architects retained for this expansion project. With all of the concrete on campus it is no wonder kids are going to Larrytown and Manhappiness over our beloved alma mater.

Wow, from being in a huff over losing your parking privileges to being upset over the abundance of concrete on campus is quite the change. I will have to disagree on the killing any semblance of traditional campus life though. While it's not the ideal placement, for some time, the metroplex fields have been used more than the heskett field anyway. And having the new dorms in the center of campus should, imo, boost traditional enrollment as well as the traditional campus life feel. It would be nice if the space where wheatshocker now resides would become something useful (like a larger rec field) until it becomes what I can only assume to be an extension of niar.

The lack of communication is one of the things I find upsetting about the Sexton administration.

I inquired about upgrading from Charter to Super Guardian. I currently have 568 points and rank #295 out of 2,380 SASO subscribers. Increasing my annual donation by $3,000 will give me 60 points, moving me to 628 points (629 is the total shown for rank #250.

The rep indicated that contributors to the capital campaign ($50,000) would have first shot at any "prime" seats released from the previous season. Assuming the 50k is split between the minimum for the Scholarship Category (21,530) pledged annually and the remainder is a "one-time" contribution, this would total 715 points. That surpasses my point accumulations over 41 consecutive years of support, might place the donor about rank #200 (guesstimate). That person could usurp 4 numbered parking slots in the prime lot and 16 prime seat tickets, making those unavailable to me.

I was told that there is a need to obtain new money (I agree) and that everyone has the same opportunity to contribute. I noted that my "opportunity" is not, in any way-shape-form equivalent to Charles Koch's "opportunity.

We drive 2 hours to every game and having that prime parking is important to us. The problem is, the commitment to the additional $3,000 must be made by mid-June, but there is no guarantee of tickets, whatsoever, and the parking maybe in the less-than-prime first lot.

How many of you have even heard of the "capital campaign"?

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I guess we will agree to disagree. It is called walkability and concrete over greenfield will kill it. And yes Newbie being upset about losing parking privileges is warranted when the first one learns about it is when you open the renewal.

Im4WSU I understand and for a good chunk of Mark Turgeon's tenure my profession made my round trip travel time to games at about 4 hours. We made it to each and every game, hell I even paid for my tickets when I was deployed for 15 months. I know of folks traveling from west of Hays to make each game. We all love our Shockers!

The parking issue is not going to get any better any time soon. When you take out 800 parking spots and replace it with 400...well you do the math.
Plan on walking a little farther to get to Koch this season (hope we have another mild winter). Bardo would like to build a parking garage where the
west stands of Cessna stadium not rest. Not sure where the money will come from. The dorm was easy since WSU will not own it but lease it.
I really miss Don and Shirley.
