I'm from Henderson (in KY, just south of Evansville). I went to school at Louisville and then Murray State. Evansville is a private school that's expensive as hell. I was a poor rural kid from Kentucky. Suffice it to say, I'm not a fan.

You don't need to be. For lack of a better term, them's fightin' words this year.

Nah, j/k. If there's any sensitivity about the sweep hanging around here, the Final Four has dulled it.

And Joneildu, thanks for all the info. You know your guys backwards and forwards. It'll be a hell of a game, and I fully expect WSU to bring more of that basketball voodoo that's gotten us this far. Hope Pitino's been sacrificing chickens like crazy, because that's what it might take to beat us if we really are so enigmatic.

(For the record, I want the SHOX to win SO EFFING BAD. I just really don't see how. Then again, I don't get to see much of anything except spring football, being marooned in Texas as I am...)
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

Yeah, well our 7 footer was named to the conference academic team as a math major, so he's smart. So there!!

If that didn't work maybe I should have went with the my 7 footer can beat up your 7 footer.

How do we beat you? If you were to coach WSU against Louisville, what advantages do we have?

If I were coaching Louisville against us, I'd say that if you keep us out of the paint and force is to shoot from the perimeter, you win. I think we can handle your pressure, but not your half-court. We have real trouble getting the ball into the post sometimes, and I think that if you can contain Carl Hall and keep us jacking threes all night, you win.
How to beat Louisville? Slow down the game. The #1 priority is to beat the press and force a half court offense and run the shot clock. Force our guards into situations where they have to foul. Hit every open shot we give you. Hit your free throws. Rebound and create second opportunities. Limit your turnovers. Use your bench These things may seem like basic parts of any team's gameplan for any game but in order to run with us you have to do each and every one of these things on every possession. The moment your players' legs start to wear down is the moment we go on a run.

Our guards for the most part have been pretty good vs the press this year.

We are not always good at creating fouls, and at times this year have struggled to hit the open shots.

This is the strong point of our team. Statistically speaking we are the best rebounding team of the final four. Marshall stresses two things. Rebounding and Defense.

As long as the pass isn't going to EO, we usually do a decent job of this.

Another strong point of our team. Marshall is not afraid of going 10 or 11 deep if necessary. There are times when he will have 5 guys checking in. We have 10 players averaging 10+ minutes a game for the season.

I think WSU will be the best defensive team you have played in the Tourney this year. We beat Pitt because we "out Pitted Pitt."

I would think that each and every one of us if we had to bet our life on this game would probably pick Louisville, but with this coach and group of players we have I am definitely glad I don't have to bet my life. Nothing would surprise me in this game. WSU could win by 20 or lose by 20.

Yeah, well, our 7 footer from Africa speaks 6 languages and is on pace to graduate in 3 years. So, there... :)

Good discussion between fans so far, keep it going.

One major thorn in our side in games that we've lost this season has been FT shooting. Often times poor FT% is merely a matter of WHO is shooting, but when we've lost, it's been pretty much a team effort in clankery.

                        Duke game #1 9-14 64%

                        'Cuse game #1 13-20 65%

                        Villanova game #1 12-24 50%

G'town 16-22 73% (only one that was decent), but we shot 35% from field and 27% from 3.

                        Notre Dame game #1 30-48 63%

Evansville drives us all crazy on this board. Low budget, small fan base, yet they seem to find a way to steal games from us in various sports. Simmons is a good coach though.

Do they still wear the sleeved jerseys?

Dieng speaks English now, he didnt when he came.

I have a question. The guy who's clearly mad has stated, several times, that you have the best handlers left in the tournament. I look deeper into the stats and see that Armstead has a 21.4% turnover rate and Vanvleet has a 24.1% turnover rate. Those are really high numbers. The team as a whole turns it over on 19.5% of its possessions. What am I missing? I believe him when he says you have great ball handlers, but why do they turn it over so often?

                                They really should.
