Matt, I also remember you dealing with your concusions, and you for sure was not expected to play. Even so you did, and we will always appreciate you, but we would of no matter what, because your health comes first.. Also, those 3 and 4 point heroic shots you made to help us to beat Creighton was of essence and on any All-Time-Shocker-Highlight-Gig.

Then there was the cross-court pass versus the Cuse at the Dome. PJ was chasing the runaway Orangeman going for the dunk and the lead, and was ahead of you. You passed him and caught and pestered this foe into somehow missing that for sure basket. What a big crowd they had and what a huge win for our black and yellow.

Then you were part of out Sweet 16 team and that was some huge wins getting there. You did plenty for our Program and I loved to watch you play. You were so fast, you could dribble right past our foes when they were on the full-throttle sprinting chase. WOW!!!!!!! You rock baybay!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Thanks for all the comments, means more than any of you will ever know. To answer mjbaker's question...I am just trying to work my way up this business by living in the moment day by day. I try not to get caught up in day dreaming about where I'd like to be eventually but I think everyone knows I'd love to get back someday and represent Wichita State as an Assistant and maybe one day as a Head Coach. Hopefully I'll see everyone in Atlanta, please let me know where the pep rally and all the WSU hangouts are going to be because I'll be there in a heartbeat!

I will say that Matt is one of my all time favorite players. HUGE heart and a gritty SOB. Loved the way he played. He was a great floor general in his own right. He's going to be insanely successful in life and make us all proud.

MB (Sparky) helped put the train back on the tracks:

"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

                Matt,

Thanks for all your contributions to the Shocker Nation. You were a ton of fun to watch play and you represented the university well.

In regards to your current employer, learn as much as you can from him except for one thing, his penchant for being a rotten turncoat program hopper.

Good luck in all your endeavors,

                T
