I'm sure if Marshall had a choice between Coach of the Year or a National Championship, he'd choose the latter.

Last year, Tyshawn Taylor was added to the Cousy Award Finalist list after it had been settled. I think Marshall could be a candidate for CoY if enough of a push is made.

CU also won one game each of the last two years and UNI was int the sweet 16 in 2010. Also, I'm pretty sure SIU won some games in 04 or 05...so our run isn't anywhere close to half of the MVC wins in the past decade, but it's way cooler than all of them combined!

If, I mean WHEN WSU wins the National Championship, how idiotic is it going to look handing the award to somebody else other than Marshall? Oh well, I guess at that point, Marshall will have some nice consolation hardware.
Plus his historic tourney run doesn't count because it was just luck and the big dogs not playing well. He didn't really do anything spectacular.

The Naismith coach of the year is going to be announced this Thursday, so they would have to add his name pretty soon for that to be on the table.

Well, the 4 coaches they selected sure didn't do them any favors in the Dance. #1 as a 2 seed loses to a 15 seed in the 1st round, #2 beats a 13 seed then loses to a 12 seed by 17, #3 as a 1 seed squeeks by a 16 seed then loses to a #9, and #4 as a 2 seed at least saves face by losing in the S16 to a 3 seed.

Given all the parameters, this will be a hollow award for whoever wins it. None have come from where HCGM started from the end of last season with roster losses that lead to the lower pre-season expectations, to the successful beginnings of this season, then the decimation of losing 3 starters and continuing to win, to finishing the season higher than expected, and lastly, but not least, the huge success in the Dance to the point where when the award is given out, he is still in the hunt, the others have long since gone.

Didn't want to create another thread, this is a fairly lengthy article by fox sports

Seems to me that AP names their COY in early April. Maybe he would have a shot at that one.

While on that thought, some doofus National broadcaster on 1410 today was calling 3G, Gregg Williams. He did so about 4x, before someone whispered in his ear. No apology of course.

Coaching like everything else is a profession where some (maybe a lot) people kiss butt. Even here on Shockernet, you see some butt kissing going on. Gregg is the type of person who won't bow down to the good ole boy network. In my opinion, he deserves to be the National Coach of the Year and if it doesn't happen, it doesn't mean that he isn't deserving. If I could vote, he'd get my vote.
