Increase salaries and recruiting budget. Minor improvements to Koch are always good, but we need to retain our coaches and have the money to reach out to more talent if we want to continue with this success, imho.

The current setup isn't too bad with the platforms, which makes for decent room. It wouldn't be bad to maybe add one more row for the band, but that is at the expense of two rows of seating the way the platforms are built. The only thing that would make it better isn't possible, and that would be to have the band on the floor behind the spirit squad. To do that, the would have had to made changes during renovations to open up more floor space in front of the student section. But that would then move the front row of students about 15 feet further back. I'm a bit biased, but Wichita State REALLY needs to do something to ingratiate alumni or fans who do not reside within an hour of Wichita. Shockervision is poor.The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.Comment

Meaningful renovations will start this year. SASO levels are already set for next year, and ticket pricess will probably go up, but not much. GM doesn't get paid most of his salary from ticket sales, but wherever it comes from, he will be able to renegotiate a nice raise for himself and staff, as he should. But there will always be limits on what WSU can pay a coach. We have great donors, but they aren't in the numbers of KU or Duke donors. Adding seating within the concept of raising the roof for luxury boxes would be OK with me. Give the corporate stiffs someplace to go to show off to their friends, freeing up the more prime seating for us average but faithful fans.Comment

The absence of luxury boxes is the one mistake of the renovation, and while glaring today, it's hard to fault the lack of vision, given the time and circumstances and enormous cost somebody would have eaten to make that happen and not lose extra seats.
Any changes or fixes are going to be hugely pricey.Comment

I don't ever want "luxury" boxes. It would absolutely kill the noise the roundhouse design creates. Also, the corporate folks won't fill the seats they have now, why do they need boxes? They need to be careful if/when they re-seat and re-price the arena. There are a lot of hardworking folks who paid a lot of money over the years to watch a lot of terrible basketball that should not be pushed out the door now that things are rosy.Comment

We need to keep bolstering the recruiting budget so HCGM and Company can recruit at will 24/7 on their private planes.
We need to raise the roof and get our capacity up a few thousand more seats.
We need to keep investing in training rooms, locker rooms, and offices.
RDR's idea of an athletic dorm would be really nice.
A parking garage with a covered tunnel or bridge for the big donors to get to the arena out of the elements would be welcomed and profitable.
Lighting is in serious need of an upgrade so the lights can be turned off in advance of introducing the players.
Camera nests need to be built into the ceiling to fix the angles.
A state of the art digital scoreboard will be introduced next year so scratch that off the list.
Oh yeah, Gregg Marshall's salary needs to be moved to 2M immediately and there needs to be a several hundred thousand dollar budget increase to be shared by the assistant coaches.
