You better tell Jim Boeheim that he can't play zone this time of year. If you guys get by the Cards, you will probably have to try to solve his zone.

The few minutes I watched I didn't see much defense at all played by the Terps. Iowa was getting wide open shots. I'm sure MT is still trying to get his guys in there.

The Zone comments about Turgeon are because during his tenure here he refused to play zone. His attitude was that you can't play zone at this level. His man to man was getting killed, everyone on here would be begging for him to mix in a little zone. It's a little inside thing.

Gotta say, I REALLY want Michigan to beat Syracuse. I am not eager to see us play Syracuse's zone at all.

Of course, if we're playing in the National Championship game, I don't care who it's against -- nothing will break my happiness. I'll worry the next day.

The best way to beat a zone is to attack it before it gets set up.

Hmmm... barely missed, huh? Sounds familiar -- that's when MT's ship started leaking at WSU: when he started barely missing and had to take "Plan B" players. A couple years of that, and the talent pool was depleted enough to look around for a new home. Unlike Marshall, who has shown the ability to miss with Manigault, Hamilton, and Richardson and recover by replacing their class with with Early, Wiggins, and Lufile, MT seemed unable to bounce back from his recruiting miscues and misfortunes, at least "at this level."

Of course, maybe he'll do better now that he's "moved up" (twice, even!). But I'm still amused that my prediction a few years back has come true: I said Marshall would make the Final Four at WSU before MT did wherever he roamed, and sure enough, he has. So thanks (sincerely) for what you did here, Coach -- but most of all, thanks for making it possible for WSU to upgrade to Marshall, and thanks for leaving to allow it to happen.

I want Michigan to win because Syracuse is going to have the wins from this season vacated in 2-3 years, and I don't want that to taint our National Championship.

Maryland and Kentucky. Kentucky lost early and Maryland lost late. That is all I know.

Baylor is playing Iowa for the championship. Robert Morris beat UK. Southern Miss was in it and lost to BYU. Maryland lost to Iowa in the semis. Those are the only games I paid any attention

Turg made the final 4 of the NIT, and his 7-footer is going pro.

Disagree w/every point you made in the first paragraph ... 2nd is fine, obv still some sour grapes over MT leaving ... I enjoy and love HCGM, but he did not bring us out of the celler ... that was MT, and for that I'm grateful MT did what he did here and started to get the wheels in motion in revitalizing our hoops program, and yes to your post, opened the door for a BETTER coach in GM. Here's to HCGM staying many more years in Wichita and being able to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

He just about put us back in the cellar when he left, though.

Sorry, Turgeon loses most respect I would ordinarily give him for what he did here because of the state he left this program in. It took Marshall, one of the best young coaches in the country, two years to pull us out of it. If we hadn't gotten lucky getting him, we would have been down a very long time. And the respect he is due for bringing us up doesn't excuse the state of the program when he left.

sad, but true. it was almost reminiscent of eddie fogler. 'kinda flushed the program down the toilet before he left.
