Disappointed that FGCU is a "new" program and chose such a common nickname (Eagles). Better: Tourist Trappers.

Should literally just stick with Dunk City. Not sure what their mascot would be. I'm thinking person dressed up like a basketball goal that the players can run over and dunk on at random points.

I don't know who's more at fault. Elijah Johnson for being a complete bonehead for most of that game, or Bill Self for giving him the ball after all those turnovers with the game on the line.

I have huge respect for Self, but he's got to kicking himself letting that one slip away.

And yet ANOTHER example of WHY YOU ALWAYS FOUL in those situations. Coach Self is a fantastic coach, a Hall of Famer and one of the best in the history of college basketball, but he and other coaches that refuse to foul in situations like that are just stubborn and dead wrong, and it cost them a chance at a National Championship.

They were gifted one when Cal made the same eff up at Memphis, so it was fun to see it bite them. But yes....always foul there.

His philosophy is to foul with under 7 seconds left. I dont think it ever got below 7 seconds.

Doc, you are usually correct.... In this case the stats do not back you up. That shot had at most a 15 percent chance of going in and KU wasn't going to automatically lose if it it did.

Some say that game will actually be the championship. I don't know who I'd like to see advance. Rick "I banged my mistress on a restaurant table" Pitino, or Mike "Master of coaching the flop" K. I'll go with the Cards as they only beat ISU and UNI each by only 5 points. But first things first....

Where do you get 15%? Burke is a 38% 3 point shooter, as is Michigan as a whole. That's a good number to start with....

What are the odds of a foul, a make, a miss, an o rebound, and another make to tie? Maybe 5%? MAYBE?

Ok, what are the odds of a foul, 2 makes, a foul, no makes and a basket to lose? Add in 2 makes and my scenario above (less that 1% I'd say) or any other FT exchange that all benefit KU?

This is about math....and the numbers simply do not support letting them shoot a 3. But they are basketball coaches, not mathematicians, so I understand why they get it wrong most of the time.
