That's a good question as I did attend a few years of college at WSU before Al Gore officially unleashed the internet in the mid-90's. I'm sure I just bitched and moaned to anybody that would listen. I suspect that since there is such a thing as ShockerNet, folks like me who are wound a bit too tightly take full advantage of our cyber bully pulpits to spew to anybody who will listen.

I don't know though if it is truly cathartic to post on here when irritated, because I type what is on my mind and not what I think people want to hear. Most people frame their comments in such a way as to be mildly appealing to the general masses. In here I am raw and completely honest. That doesn't always generate a soothing response. Sometimes when I start seeing my feelings in print I only get more irritated. It would be so much easier if the Shocks would just pound who they are supposed to pound every year.

Sometimes you irritate the hell out of me. This isn't one of them. Internally and externally I get a bit wound up as well, maybe not to the degree you do, but that is determined more from genetic DNA than anything else. I sometimes forget that these are 18-23 year old kids that are taking expert and well intended direction from our very good coaching staff. And just like when I give my own kids expert and well intended direction about life issues, they sometimes run off the beaten path. And although it sometimes pisses me off beyond belief, the execution from this age group of young men doesn't always mirror the intent. You and I will soon throw barbs back and forth soon about something unimportant, I'm sure, but our team needs all of us on deck with a clear mind and conscious. There is much still to play for and they need ALL of us, including the grouchy, sometimes condescending COLD.

I haven't forgotten, but it doesn't sting nearly as bad anymore. I thought it was going to take at least an Elite 8, but I'm pretty darn near healed up by the Sweet Sixteen! I'll let you know how I feel after the Elite 8!

          Thx Shox!

This was perhaps the biggest @#%-up in Shocker basketball history over the last 20 years. I would almost compare it to Randy Burns holding the ball between his legs in the corner causing a jump ball, turnover, and eventual loss.

You DON'T get swept by a DII basketball program, and you especially don't do it on Senior night. Okay, I'm starting to get angry again.. perhaps it was too soon to start posting again. Hell, I don't even know what happened at Rent-a-BJ last Saturday other than we lost. The only thing that would erase the sting out of the Evansville sweep would be an Elite Eight run or greater. Do you realize we are the only team in the MVC that got swept by Evansville? And we were swept on a night that could have locked up a season championship.

There is no excuse for what happened and my written words are only making me angry with unfulfillment. Every time I think about last Wednesday I want to break something. We spend over 23 million dollars on athletics at WSU. Contributions have nearly reached 9 million recently. Our ticket sales alone are over 4 million a year. Our coach is nearing 1.6 million dollars a year, Marty Simmons "hauls" home 180k. We recruit BCS players, they recruit mid-major leftovers.

HOW THE @#$@# DO WE GET SWEPT BY EVANSVILLE??!!

However, losing games like that cost 5,000 of us the chance to watch them in KC and Arlington. That still stings.

I prefer the nets we got over senior night or Arch Madness.

I'm now of the opinion that losing twice to Evansville and once to Southern Illinois only proves how tough this league is. The media hype is that power conference teams deserve invites because the competition they play in leauge prepares them for the level of competition in the NCAA's. I think the competition the Shox faced in the MVC prepared them well for the NCAA tourney.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

You won't believe this **** but I didn't. I didn't DVR this game or the game before the Sweet 16. I did DVR the La Salle game. I don't know what it is. I am kind of in a fog. I try not to think directly about the games. I watched the game at the bar during the first half and then went home with a group of people and watched the second half at home on the big screen. When we reached a 20pt margin, I was completely calm and a long way from celebrating. As the game drew to a close and we started to unravel, I got very nervous.

I can't believe I was about to shoot myself in the head after we lost to Evansville on senior night. Has anybody ever seen a season go from such a low point to such a high point in such a short time? It was four weeks ago that we lost to Evansville on senior night and now we are on our way to the FINAL FOUR - 2/3rd's of the way to a national championship!!!!!

                                wtf?
