Playing Happy Birthday is a good idea. I'd imagine that the game coordinator will take over the decision when to play it.

A 30 second Happy Birthday song is taking something away from the seniors?

The seniors would love it. There is no issue here. Part of what makes them great. Do it

Heck, they've probably got 'win for coach on his bday' on the bulletin board

Scoring 100 on EU would be a great birthday present and parting shot for the seniors. This will be a special night for those guys.

Might as well still do it. In case my friend forgets or something. Also won't hurt to show more people are in favor of it.

I've let every past Shocker Sound member that I know, and posted on here as well, but I'll do it again since @InTheMiddleOfThePrarie is connected somehow to the band, this year's band is one of the best, if not the best Shocker Sound I've heard. Great songs, great enthusiasm, and one big thing that is key, the director understands what songs need to be played and when.

After last year, I felt anything would be an improvement. I was blown away when you directly compare last year's band to this year's.

Haha now that is funny. When you know the guys involved and the personal differences there, it is pretty entertaining hearing the public perception of the end product as well.

By the way, don't listen to anything @InTheMiddleOfThePrarie: says.

Starting the countdown to his rebuttal now.

Also you spelled prairie wrong. BAM

How about in addition to all this we win by 50 for his 50th b-day? I'll take a win by one but WTH?

                          His 50th birthday is tomorrow.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Shocker Nation to show appreciation to the guy that reversed course away from The Abyss (remember how often that phrase used to be invoked?) and the seniors that stepped on the gas.
Good News, I have some good news for you.

                          1. As of yesterday at midnight, Coach Marshall had 327 all time wins as a head basketball coach for a D-1 school.
                          2. Coach Marshall's rank against all D-1 coaches is 191st place.
                          3. When Coach Marshall achieves another 100 wins, he will rank in the top 100 of all time coaches. Actually, it will be around 75th place. Perhaps not that high because other active coaches will be garnering wins too.
                          4. S.I.U. had their championship run from '02-'05. In 2004, it was clear to me that their talent was running thin. I began to predict S.I.U.'s demise by characterizing it as a fall to the depths of the abyss. I take selfish credit for the original use of the term, "abyss", to describe bad things comin'.

I do not see our old confidant Coach Turgeon on that list.

Grassy a$$ (you may pronounce it gracias), Ricky. That's exactly the link I ended up at after his Wikipedia page.

I didn't recall the your invention of "the abyss", but I believe it.

As far as I'm concerned, Lowery was the reason SIU slipped. In 2006 they were still tough though.

Not to mention a Sweet Sixteen in 2007.
