Ray McCallum is a really good PG. The Arizona Wildcats recruited him pretty hard until it became evident that he was going to sign with his father. I'm going to enjoy watching this game.

I believed he committed to Detroit the next day. I believe he also blew off a trip to Lawrence.

The Shocks would appear to have clear advantage in size and in depth. The big question is can 3G make the matchups work in the Shocks favor.
Detroit's top 6 guys account for 86% of their minutes, 93% of their points, and 79% of their rebounding. Detroit has started the same linup in all 27 of their games. About 30% of Detroits shots are 3-pointers. Jason Calliste takes 60% of his shots beyond the arc and Doug Anderson only takes 10% of his shots beyond the arc. By comparison the Shocks take 36% of their shots beyond the arc.
Starters:
#3 Ray McCallum, G 6-3 190 Jr - 38.1 MPG, 18.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 33.3% on treys, 70.8% FT
#10 Jason Calliste, G 6-2 173 RJr - 34.9 MPG, 14.4 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 38.2% on treys, 82.7% FT
#23 Doug Anderson, F 6-6 212 Sr - 25.4 MPG, 11.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 49.1% FT
#2 Juwan Howard Jr., F 6-6 210 RSo - 28.1 MPG, 9.0 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 81.5% FT
#34 Nick Minnerath, F 6-9 215 RSR - 28.8 MPG, 14.8 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 35.8% on treys, 79.3% FT
6th Man:
#33 Evan Bruinsma, F 6-8 214 Jr - 19.7 MPG, 5.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 28.2% on treys, 75.0% FT
Others:
#11 P.J. Boutte, G 5-8 151 So - 9.8 MPG, 1.6 PPG, 1.1 RPG, 11.8% on treys, 52.2% FT
#12 Ugochukwu Njoku, C 6-10 220 Jr, 6.0 MPG, 0.8 PPG, 1.6 RPG, no treys, 41.2% FT
#21 Jermaine Lippert, F 6-8 230 Jr, 1.3 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 2-5 on treys, 77.8% FT
My guess is Malcolm will have primary responsibility for McCallum backed up by D-Will and Fred.
D-Will will matchup mostly with Jason Calliste backed up by Tekele and Fred.
It will be interesting to see how and if Fred can handle either one of these guys on the defensive end.
I see Tekele and Nick spending most of their time defending Howard. We really need Nick to step up this game. If he can handle Howard reasonbly well that would free up Tekele to give a hand with McCallum and Calliste.
If EO starts, Carl will probably matchup against Anderson and EO against Minnerath. However, I would not be totally surprised to see Cleanthony start instead of EO with Cle taking Anderson and Carl taking Minnerath. I think CJ and Jake can help out as needed on Minnerath. Not sure either of them can handle Anderson. However, my guess is 3G will stay with EO in the starting lineup and see how it goes.
EO needs to be in the game anytime Njoku and Lippert are on the floor.

eerily similar to wichita state vs george mason and virginia commonwealth in bracketbusters. those teams wouldn't even have made the tournament if not for the wichita state game(s). that put them over the bubble top. you all know the rest of the story. i've seen some detroit posters on their board question if this game could put them over- believe me, it could, and will, if detroit wins, titan fans.

Thinking about coming to the game tomorrow, but I live 2 hours east of Wichita, just wondering what the road conditions are like on 54, around here they are fine, and in and around Wichita. Is the campus pretty well cleaned up and 21st street as well? Wouldn't think twice about it if it was just me, but my family (young children) will be with me so want to be smart.THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!

Classes were cancelled again today so they have had a full day to work on the lots and sidewalks. I don't anticipate much of an issue with the campus.
My biggerst concern would be your drive back after the game as the sun goes down, it gets colder and perhaps refreezes any moisture that me be on the roads.

2006 — George Mason 70, WSU 67 (at WSU)

A friend of mine called just last week from Atlanta and still follows the Shocks. Ron is 'spot on'. Shocker Nation does not compose mostly of fair-weathered-fans, but rather a passionate and growing fanbase. We stick to our beloved Shocks like superglue, no matter what happens. Throw lemons at the Shocks and we will have a soothing glass of ice cold lemonaide. When the 'grapes of wrath' come knocking, look for our angry revived MTXE Shocks to trample on it until we seek and find a collective drink of vintage fine wine, fresh from the 'Chalice of Victory' as 3G so eloquently phrased it.
Yes, along our black and yellow basketball journey, our Shocks have had their share of setbacks and glory days and we the fanbase were right there with them, sharing in the highs and the lows. In the scheme of things, I point you to Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest Presidents of all time. Not everybody loved him but they respected him. He had enough setbacks before becoming President to cause most anybody to throw up their hands and quit. Not honest Abe though, and that was real life, not a game of basketball that we all enjoy witnessing. No, we are not an Abraham Lincoln. However, our rich History teaches us lessons about life, or even a freedom of just playing a game of hoops or enjoying your favorite team as a zealot fan. We all suffer 'setbacks and forks in the road' along the way. It happens to us all. Some turn the other way, throw up their hands in defeat, give up, and run to them thar hills. Others, get up, dust themselves off, glove up, and jump back into the ring of life and never give up. That is what President Lincoln did, that is what our Shockers continue to do, and we the Shocker Nation, will be right by their side, every step of the way, no matter what happens along the way. See you at 3pm today with bells on.Last edited by forevershockerfan; February 23, 2013, 11:25 AM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
