  • Oh yeah, forgot to mention the tipoff. I am tiring of seeing opposing teams tip the ball on the way up...that used to be illegal.
Jake Odom doesn't really draw contact...he initiates contact.

The play that resulted in a foul called that put Early on the line with about :28 left has been called a jump ball more than a few times.

Is there any way to stop Odum from driving the paint and getting all those and ones? I mean damn. He's great at getting off his shot and drawing contact.

Two game road swing resulting in two wins. Magic number down to one to clinch MVC title with two to play. Nice.

Demetric Williams has become a warrior. Hitting the two clutch free throws inside a minute after getting tripped and falling on the bad hip had to hurt badly. Fortunately the guy fouled out and DWill had some extra time to get re-wrapped.

Long 4 days 'til Detroit. That one will be tough, too.

I'm not so sure this is a Maserati - more like a rusted out VW microbus that refuses to die.

On the road, any win is a good win. ISUb is a good team.

And winning out on this road trip is outstanding.

Excellent point. You'd be hard pressed to find a 2 game road trip in 3 days that meant as much to a WSU team as this one did, and then see that they swept it.

Impressive doesn't even begin to describe it. It's why they are champions at heart.

That is the toughest road trip in the valley aside from a 3 day, 2 game to Creighton and WSU. And that might not even be as tough.

            • Congrats Shocks. You played like a championship team is supposed to play; they just stick with it and grind it out. Our Sycamores have been very depressing for the last ten days or so. If a couple of shots had fallen we would be ecstatic today but alas, not meant to be.

St. Louis usually has an upset or two but not sure if any game in this upcoming tournament can be called an upset (only by the seed numbers I guess?). Any team can catch "lightning in a bottle" for three (maybe even four?) straight games. I personally would take the field versus any one team in this one.
Good luck vs all except our Sycamores.

              • Malcolm is much better when it's a "catch and shoot" situation, no?

Quite possibly. He just looked better last night overall. It wasn't necessarily just this part of his game.

He is very good at rhythm jump shots. His dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble...dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble...then shot act delivers nothing positive.

                    • Tough, grind-it-out win.

RefChick and once again ventured to beautiful Terre Haute for last nights game. What a vacation destination!

Seriously, WSU gutted this one out and deserves some serious props for coming back 2 days after the ILSU deal.

Did they look a bit tired? Yes, but they did what they had to do and got out of there with a 'W'.

I know some ripped on DW for his 1st half, but they don't win last night without him.
His O rebound and stick back after his circus drive underneath the basket in the 2nd half were huge, just when the so-called ISU faithful were getting somewhat loud.

His clutch FT's, especially after getting roll blocked by Smith, were crucial and Senior-like in all facets.
He was hurting big time after the hit and was fortunate that Smith fouled out and there was a timing issue to deal with. The extra time helped him get his bearings straight and drain the FT's.

Cle kept them in the game with his 1st half shooting, but his foul on Mahurins trey was ridiculously stupid.

It topped the almost as insane move by Armstead to drive the lane instead on pulling it out and run clock @ the 2:00 mark.
I thought the HCGM and ACCJ were going to blow a gasket on the bench.

Speaking of blowing a gasket, ACCJ went thermonuclear on NW in the 1st half when he didn't contest a trey by INSU.
After his thorough proctological exam, he went on to become much more personally involved in his defensive efforts.

Cle's FT's at the end absolutely deflated what was left of Terre Haute's finest.

They managed to call us a few names as we headed to the locker room. It was worth it just to turn and smile at them.

                      That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

They were incredible in Wichita. We played so-so and got SHELLACKED. Tonight, we played so-so and won by 4. On their home court.

They are the streakiest team in the MVC, so that comment is not really beyond the pale of common sense.
I think it was the same team. In Wichita, our guards kept overplaying towards the screener. Since our team hard hedges on screens that meant their guard had an open path to the basket and no one could stop him. Bad defense had a lot to do with their good offense. This gets forgotten now since our offense was so bad but they were ready to choke the game away in the second half. But we couldn't score and after several chances to tie the game up, Indiana St. calmed down and started scoring again. Tonight we played so-so but in Wichita we played bad.

You are so correcto. I do not know what I hated worse, Mal's drive to the basket, when we needed to run clock, or Early's foul.

We got so lucky, when a foul was called on Odum instead of a jump ball, in the last few seconds of play. Extra lucky.

                            • Attendance for the game according to the paper was 6,100. A lot fewer butts in the seat than that. I don't understand why there would not have been a bigger turnout. Must be alot of other activities going on in Terre Haute on a tuesday that I'm not aware of. Go Shocks and I love our fan support.

A major factor, which caused the loss by IN State to WSU, was the lack of crowd noise. I have heard more noise in a mausoleum.
