Have you ever been there? Have you laid eyes on the facilities? Are you aware that one semester the school had to cancel Sex Education classes and Driver's Education classes because the mule died? And finally, as for HCGM being well-regarded when he left...he won Big South Coach of the year 3 of his last 5 seasons at Winthrop...including his last season there, 2007. Going out on top is about as "well-regarded" as one can leave.
I think what Hillbilly Hank was saying is that HCGM dominated the league, therefore the other teams in the league hated him, which equates to not being "well regarded". Of course who gives two shats about what other coaches in the league think about you.

The animosity and hate from other schools is just going to get worse. But you know what, these other schools would take HCGM as their coach any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

What I take umbrage with is your assertion about High Point particularly when you are comparing Winthrop U to it. Uh...I don't know how to say this but HPU is a really great school. One of the best in the South. Look no further than the U.S. News Rankings. Winthrop is decent academically but certainly no High Point. And HPU seems to always have the reigning Miss North Carolina on campus so that helps the scenary.

Gregg was not well regarded in the Big South at the end. We can agree on that point.
You are an idiot. I live within an hour of HPU and it is a cesspool. The town is in an economic Kharybdis, and the school (which was never good to begin with) is getting dragged under in rapid fashion. They are receiving fewer applications for admission year over year since 2009 and show no signs of rebounding soon.

The search for the truth has never gotten in the way of LFG before. Why let it the truth get in the way of a good story and he makes them up as good as anybody.

Was fortunate enough to be there..

Their fans were very passionate, but out of line at the end, hitting Ron in the back of the head with a small basketball, and our fans with their collapsible souvenirs. We were quickly escorted to the hallway near the locker room, where we heard what we thought was a celebration until guards ran by us. We then turned the corner to see a couple of coaches exchanging pleasantries. I rolled video on my phone but was asked by the coaching staff to stop and delete it, and did so. It was a heated game, and got a bit out of hand at the end.. Let it go,we have a bigger focus tomorrow.

I'm confused by the asked to stop recording and delete the video statement. Who requested you to stop recording and delete the video? Seems to me there was something going on that they were not proud of and would not want a record of. The coaching staff is paid very well to represent the university in a professional manner. This entire event spells unprofessional and asking that the video be deleted only makes me more suspicious that our coaching staff crossed boundaries that should not have been.

It could be that the video made the opposition look poorly. Either way - it does not need "filmed" by the public. It could even be an invasion of privacy.

Illinois State fans have quickly surpassed everybody as the most delusional and classless fanbase in the country.

I used to read on the Saluki board how they were so insufferable and thought they were absurd. Turns out they were right.

It wasn't a pretty moment. Both staffs admit that. Move on.

They just completed a heated, physical, competitive game. Both sides wanted to win, and both sides had beefs with the opposing teams and officials. Add to that a perceived slight, that was only a slight in one persons mind, and that was all it took to ignite some competitive fire.

Anyone who doesn't understand this, or makes it out to be more than it was, has never competed on that level before. It happens in these situations, sometimes even between teammates (See McCarron and his Center in the National Championship game). What we need to do is stop name calling the ISUr fans, realize that it was just part of the game and one of the main reasons public is typically not invited to the locker room after heated rivalry games, losses especially.

WSU did not disrespect anyone on the ISU staff. The ISU staff thought we did, and reacted the way I would expect Coach Marshall and staff to if what was believed to have been done actually happened. Cheers, beers, no tears.

It actually hit one of the marketing interns in the head.
