Fantastic (as usual) write up by Paul Suellentrop. I really enjoyed his comment about vanilla MVC coaches. If the coaches got into it a little last night, more power to them. What is wrong with the game "meaning a little something"?

Too many people seem to think Ben Jacobson is the blueprint for good coaching. Ben can't carry Gregg's jock. Competition is about passion. I loved Mark Turgeon but he was at his best when he showed a little fire. So is Gregg. Yes, it's occasionally misdirected, but I'll take the occasional misstep over milktoast every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Scott Thompson was a nice guy.

I will also give some credit to the ILS fan base. They brought great passion and energy to the game I thought. That doesn't hurt anything either. Better than playing in some of the mausoleums we've witnessed. The only thing I would ask is that these Valley fan bases bring it more consistently, not just because WSU is in town and it's a heavlily promoted, discounted white-out, blue-out, red-out event.

Paul also reported earlier that Gregg met with the ISU AD. Now THAT'S an exchange I'd like to have attended. How in the world does that even take place last night?

ISU AD: "You tell Marshall to get his butt in here, I want to talk to him now!" Can't imagine answering to other ADs.

3G: Get that so and so AD in here, I want to give him my .02!" Again, can't imagine the AD giving Gregg the time of day.

1)How does that meeting even happen?
          2)Somebody please get a transcript.

I could see 3G sending his DOBO to the ILS athletic director requesting that security hang around until they were on the bus just to be safe. Not sure if ADES was at the game or not. If he was, he would be the guy to request the additional security, although 3G is not always sensitive to how information is deliverd, just that it gets delivered. Emotions were high and the situatution was somewhat combustible.

I can't remember when our fans threw debris onto the court or at opposing teams. I do remember the bottle of water thrown a few years ago and landed near the opposing bench after a horrendous call (and as it turned out I knew the person that threw it and they asked him not to return for the rest of the year). But apparently its ok if you are an ilsu fan and you don't actually engage in the practice. Also I'm a little upset about the no call at the very end that could have won the game for them if it had gone in and it was very close to falling in. Can you imagine the crowd if a charge had been called and the shot went in only to not count? Whoa Nellie.

I don't think ADES was at the game. I believe he was in Boston with Mayor Menino (Mumbles) taking his Elocution Lessons in preparation for defending any bad calls during the MoVal tournament
Tom Menino, the mayor of Boston, is easily the biggest buffoon in politics. The audio of "Mumbles" as he is commonly known, can bring tears of laughter.

Does anyone know how many road games we've played in the MVC this year that they've done a promo (white out, red out, maroon out)? I'm thinking last night was at least the 3rd but there may have been more. Just another gauge of where we stand in the eyes of the other schools and in this conference. I bet there will be at least one more promo out of our last two MVC roadies.

I was at that game also. The whole game was nothing but terrible calls going against WSU. Finally someone lost it and chucked that water bottle from a decent seat up. It hit the table near the announcers I think, lol.

I thought it landed right near a young woman seated at one of the tables and she was freaked out

That is exactly what it was like Gregg's final few seasons at Winthrop. Every other team in the conference hated us. And it was because of one simple reason. They couldn't beat us. One school, High Point University (and I assure you, they use the word "university" loosely when referring to this school) even set up banners all along the side of the highway talking crap about the team so that our players would have to see them when the bus drove in to town. We had to take everyone's best shot because they all hated us. It was by far the most fun I have ever had as a fan! The lumberjacks, Sillynois, all of the also-rans in the MVC will play their best games against you. On the one hand, it will make winning conference championships that much tougher. But on the other hand, it will galvanize your players like never before. Enjoy. I'm having fun watching it unfold from the east coast!

Whatever the case was, the idiot shouldn't have thrown it. WSU fans have more class than that.

I guess that is the price a team pays to be the best. Marshall is definitely no stranger to being the best in a conference.
