    • I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but just wanted to point out, this is karma payback for the Redturds. I hope it stung hard.

And what a bunch of effing crybabies. Wow.

      ... No really, deuces.

        obvious flagrant 2.

anyway, he had the rebound corraled, and then split second kicked out

        • Yes...clearly F2. Flagrant in that it was clearly intentional and with malice. I know that is not how the rules are written but consider the following: intentional because he has spent ____ years playing the game and is a well conditioned athlete that can dunk on a moment's notice from sometimes impossible angles with three people hanging off of him. Yet, collecting rebounds somehow escapes his physical control? And the kick just happens to drop the primary defender that kept him in check all night? I may have been born at night but not last night. Expect this to continue the rest of the year. He made it clear when he laid out Carl Hall on the last second shot (it was a charge!) that the F1 meant nothing and he fully intends to bulldoze his way to the NCAA. Bank on it.

          • If this article is any indication I have to give Jackie Carmichael credit for handling the situation pretty well.

I agree. He is not putting it on the refs.

"Some people on campus were calling me 'Jackie Chan Carmichael' If it wasn't such a bad memory, I might keep it," Carmichael said on Monday morning." "If I was someone who wasn't at the game in our fanbase, I guess I would think it was intentional. I'm looking at it from my point of view, though, and I didn't mean it. I went up for a rebound like I usually do." "Our team fought hard and I had one really crucial play that cost us."

Carmichael showing more class than a lot of fans and coaches. I believe him. That has nothing to do with it not still being a danerous play and a flagrant foul. It was and I think he knew it.

I went back and looked at the videos frame by frame. I think it was a dangerous play, but not with malice. It would appear his leg is starting to head out before he would have seen Tekele. At the speed everything was going, it would have been extremly hard not to make contact. However, whether Carmichael was trying to avoid that contact or merely turning around in air to land, his fully extented leg started to retract before contact. in doing so, it fortunately just missed Tekele's face and neck, but it hit him in the chest and, due to Tekele lower body extending outward, caught on his chest momentarily before coming off as JC finished his turn. Had JC not turned, but continued straight forward, it would have been much worse, and I would have totally considered it with malice.

As for anyone saying Tekele flopped, they're nuts.

Third actually ... Malcolm had 18, and Hall had 13. And 2 of those points weren't supposed to be his, as Cotton was supposed to be the one shooting the after-karate-kick FTs. Still no idea how Early ended up there. Crazy Early got up to 3rd in points when he didn't score a single point in the first 34 minutes, though.

And I wouldn't say that's just on Early. Imagine what this team would be like if they could cut out the stupid fouls and play consistently for two halves. We're so streaky and foul-prone.

                • All sounds reasonable enough, but I'd add that if we meet them in St. Louis, everyone on both sides better remember to wear their cups.

And the most interesting part took place after the game away from the TV. It went from Karate Kid on the court to Jerry Springer in the back hallway!

                          • So I see some of their fans are admitting to things being thrown, including roll-up banners at our team and the refs. Some of them are condoning it (not all, of course). And they have the nerve to call others classless.

What I find sad in this whole thing is the total lack of understanding of human behavior. If the situation was flipped around, they would be acting like us and us like them.

The part I find hilarious is how they complained of Marshall "whining" about the kick and "talking his way out of a loss" by convincing the refs to review the play. The only rational conclusion is that they would be fine if Mulluer sat on his hands and didn't do everything within his power and the rules to put his team in a position to win.

Of course, we all know that's BS. Any coach who would so such a thing isn't qualified to lead a D1 program.

                            • GMs real genius was talking the ball and the rim into connecting with each other on Williams and Cle's shots, while getting the other goal to deny JCs last shot.

Talk about talking his way out of a loss.

                              • Another thing I've learned from this, a lot of Illinois State fans struggle with logic and critical thinking skills.

At least Phantom and GoRL have largely stayed above the fray, from what I can tell.
