  • Reading the ISU board, apparently some of their fans threw objects onto the court. Here are some of their delusional thoughts on the last minute of play:

    Cotton flopped

It was a foul on Cotton because he didn't give Carmichael room to come down

No flagrant on Carmichael because he withdrew his leg after contact

The play should not have been reviewed

Carmichael couldn't of done anything different then what he did

Carmichael was fouled on the last play

Objection to Carl's behavior after the game. On TV, he was raising both arms up and down when he went into the tunnel.

Well at least we now know it was intentional.

      • I just hope this win catapults us into a post season run.

Heres to handling Indy St. Hopefully we can kick it into another gear and sweep this road trip.

Gotta have the Cle from the last part of the game for a full 40.

And Marcus Armstead played great. More Marcus, please.

        • Why do other schools always get jealous of our successful head coach by saying hes classless, the guy is as classy as it gets.

          • I recall Bryan Allen taunting WSU fans at the game here last season...while the game was going on. He was raising his arms up and down just like Carl did while exiting through the tunnel...BUT it was during the game at halfcourt. I can't see how the Redbird fans could complain about this. How short and selective memories are.

              • Fans are pretty much the same everywhere; this is from the bird's board

A lot of people are talking about how we pissed away a lead again, stopped playing solid perimeter defense, things like that. That is all 100% true.

However, how are we supposed to compete when the opposing coach can LITERALLY TALK his way out of losing a game? People are saying that the flagrant called on Jackie, who we all know is the dirtiest player in the MVC  was the right call. Was it? Was it really? Then why was there no call WHEN AN OFFICIAL WAS LOOKING RIGHT AT IT? Both teams went to the fair end of the court to continue playing, and Marshall decided that it was an opportunity to steal the game by complaining, yet again, to the officials. It was unbelievable. How about the out of bounds blown calls between TB, JH, and Hall? More blown calls. Yeah, everyone will say, "well, we shouldn't have been in a position where we had to worry about stuff like bad calls." Well, you know what? A bad call is one thing; getting TALKED into a bad call is another thing entirely, and I truly hope this officiating crew is thoroughly reviewed and eventually fired.

Regarding our fans that decided to throw things onto the court in response: I didn't participate, but given that the game ended in a bullshit manner, I don't blame anyone for doing such a thing.

Also, I saw JC after he came out of the tunnel for his post-game interview, and he looked like he was about ready to kill someone.

Gregg Marshall is now easily my most despised figure in all of sports. Given the chance, I'd smash his face into a car windshield and destroy those stupid glasses of his. What a ***** he is.

The guys better watch out in St Louis; if the two teams play, I've got a feeling it will be worse than last year.

I was surprised how much more contact that goes on that I don't catch on TV or when I am in the cheap seats.

Carmichaels's Hong Kong Fuey kick happened 20-30 feet in front of me and at that time I saw it, it was pretty obvious it was intentionall. When the foul wasn't called, I just figured that he simply got away with it.

I wasn't going to comment on the post-game stuff, but since Suelly already wrote about it, it is fair game. I just heard that assistant coache(s) from Ill State started yelling at WSU coaches in the hallway that leads to both locker rooms. I heard the yelling, but had no idea what was going on.

The coaches and players that I saw after the game were excited about the victory and were calm, cool and collected.

Redbird Arena is a nice, on-campus facility. It reminds me of the Kansas Coliseum, and the Topeka ExpoCenre. There were some very, very lame heckers behind the Shocker bench. I hope our hecklers have some originality and humor. I'm not sure how many times I heard, "Hey Marshall, do you need a neutral court?" Also on the drive back from Chicago I listened to the Ill State post-game call-in show. Those fans had the exact same complaints about "MVC" refs that we do. I probably listend to 20 callers and they all had the same thing to say.
I said to my wife "Holy cow, ABC has awesome seats! I know he has juice but wow." I never thought about the obstructed view seating. It would be cool for a game but I think I would my full court view from Century Club. Not to mention going much lower with our four seats would be pricey. Safe Travels ABC.

                      • I do not understand how Illinois State fans can be in such denial over the kicking occurrence.

If A shocker player had done the same thing, I would be fuming at the player and embarrassed as a Wichita State Shocker fan.

I cannot fathom how anyone that has watched the replay can think that it was NOT intentional.

                        • WSU has gotten like 5 techs this year. Most of which, we think are BS. But after we watch replays realize that our players were dumb and should know better.

The other brilliant logic I've seen is that it didn't connect with the head, so, apparently that should make it A-OK....
