Later, in that same game, this same wise man made the key play that mattered, and we silently won, shook their hand as winners, which in return demanded their respect with the results. This is a true war story that comes as a 'free perk from me to each of you' and I hope it helps because I never forgot this.

3G wants us to play with class but also play D like our hair is on fire. He also appreciated and liked the words that from Mr. Carr that we play on the court like we are angry. How many times does the team on the court that has "the eye of the tiger mentality" win the close games? That will be the team that is diving for loose balls, focusing on their role and executing it, and giving it their all on every play, knowing the game might be close all the way to the end. Not always does the best team win the close games because the other team might just want the win more and do every thing possible to do just that.
I think the student section should make about a dozen fairly large signs that says "Get Angry" or "Play Angry" or "Are you angry yet?" and display them when the Shocks go soft.

    • Confidence was a wonderful thing to watch last night. Confidence in your offense, confidence in your shot, confidence in your teammates. Of course it helped to be playing at home against a young team. I'll take the morale booster. Now onto a Drake team that appears to have improved since we last met.

That is taunting and an Unsportsmanlike Technical Foul 1000 times out of a 1000, not 998. There is no justification for it and in no way does it benefit the team.

The troubling issue is this isn't the first time and it's occurred with multiple players.

Just ask HCGM if he thinks there is some sort of benefit to his players picking up a Technical Foul due to their inability to keep their mouth shut.

        That is all.
Players take on the personality of their coach. The reason you see this with multiple players is because they have taken on the intensity, swagger, and cockiness of their coach. Does HCGM want his players getting T's? Of course not. But Coach Marshall does not recruit choir boys, he recruits men and then molds them to become nasty and intense... just like himself. Note: I did not say dirty.

HCGM knows what it means to wear your heart on your sleeve. If you recall, MA has earned two technicals this year, and while HCGM stated publicly that he will fix the issue, MA never lost his starting job.. even for a game. Most likely HCGM agreed with MA's intensity and told him that he needs to keep it outside of the eyes of the official. Trash-talking (and even cheap-shots) are a given in basketball. The key is to make sure you aren't caught by the zebras.

        Coach Marshall loves Malcolm Armstead!

not being caught by the zebras is right on. i think trash talking is part of the game but should be done discretely to get
in the head of your opponents. should not be visable to refs or the crowd. if we make it to a larger stage in post
season in front of national viewers i really hope none of our players lose their cool. i don't want to see ANY visable
antics by ANY of our players that will reflect poorly on our team any time anywhere.
