I want our fans to EXPECT to beat KU if/when we play, not just hope it happens then sulk if we lose a tough game. I'd assume that'd be the case though. So I'm not worried.

A) Who is this Bill Self you folks speak of? Is he famous? An actor maybe?
B) The question isn't why will K-who not play us, but why do we need to play them. I don't need their little pat on the head for approval.
C) I had the good fortune whilst attending WSU to take a little road trip down to New Orleans in 1981 I believe, for something called an NCAA Regional. What I witnessed there will forever put a smile on my face that will last me til the day I die. Darnell Valentine choking on the layup, Mike Jones bombs away, hanging crap on Jayhawk types on Rue Bourbon. 66-65, I think some of their ilk still bristle over that one.

Why doesn't Kansas play Wichita State?
"Kansas hasn't played Wichita State for years, way before I was the coach at Kansas. … Iowa plays Northern Iowa because the state legislature says you have to. If someone were to come and say something that it's law, then we would have to. But you schedule to benefit your own school, not to benefit others. You have to benefit your own school. I want to play games that benefit us, and, from a financial standpoint, it's hard to play games away from Allen Fieldhouse since that's our main source of budget every year.''
... if financial issues are the only hinderances at hand as to why KU wont play WSU, why then, doesn't Marshall's idea a three game series, playing at Sprint, Intrust and in Lawrence get any traction?
1. He won't schedule an away game at Koch
2. He'll only schedule an away game that
a) Financially helps KU
b) garners high national TV ratings
c) in an area KU needs to recruit or is at a disadvantage in recruiting
*** none of these except for perhaps "b" currently fit WSU v KU (though I believe a game at Intrust could include premium tkt prices that would offset $$ concerns.
3. Will entertain a WSU game at AFH (home game and doesn't hurt financially)
4. Not opposed to the state mandating games between WSU v KU & KSU
a) takes the pressure away from the JoCo crowd stomping their feet at Bill Self for potentially losing to a WSU team
b) can always point fingers to a 3rd party for mandating the game
Sooner or later the two biggest dogs in the state are bound to go nose-to-nose. My thinking is that it could happen this year in the NCAA tournament, which IMO puts the pressure on the Jayhawks. Additionally, as long as Gregg continues to coach WSU and is ranked, more and more national media will be pushing a regular season match up. Until then, WSU just needs to do what they do~ WIN and not worry about KU until they meet in the tournament.
This game is going to happen~ sooner rather than later.

Everything about KU that's related to Sedgwick County remains shrouded in mystery. They still haven't played a game in Intrust Arena (too scared of the backlash from local everything because they sure as hell won't play the Shockers at Intrust). Still show no interest in scheduling WSU in basketball (espn is starting to have fun with this one now). It seems like anything basketball related- they do you their best to ignore Wichita- As far as making sure they have a KU med in Wichita and scheduling the Shockers in Baseball, they are fine with those two.
