How about this? If we could get the state's other two top 25 schools on our schedule every year we wouldn't need to worry about moving to another conference.

Where did the rumor come from and why do people keep bringing it up?...it's not true.

However, I am glad that Marshall put his terms out there for KU nation to see. Reading their board the other day, they said we wouldn't agree to their terms because we wanted a game in CKA. They'll spew more excuses and the game won't happen...that's fine. The fans are as scared as the coach. They're afraid of that 1 in 100 chance that we might beat them. Like that 1 in 100 chance Bradely would win or UNI or Davidson. If they weren't scared, they'd play, they have nothing to lose they still get their payday and just as much exposure as they'd get playing USC in IBA or Davidson in KC. Honestly my dream scenario would be another forced game by the NCAA in the NCAA tournament. Then after we win, refuse to schedule them in the regular season and hold our 2-0 record against KU in the NCAA's over their head for eternity.

The offer was most recently brushed off this past fall when the big 3 coaches were in Wichita, standing on a stage looking out at IBA. Gregg made the offer and Bill said he couldn't do it because Gregg had called KU chickenhawks. Gregg corrected the record, but that was Bill's line, and he was sticking to it. I don't know why we want to exclude Koch from the series. Why would we not want the KU kids to experience the best road atmosphere in the Country?

According to Owenc, Self response to Gregg was "Well Gregg, we just cant do that, we were mistreated there over 20 years ago"

Where does Fredster and Owenc get their information? From clouds in their coffee??? It's rumour similar to the brushfire that started when HCGM made the quizzical comment "chickhawk" when reading it from a sign. Things get completely taken out of context.
Bill and Gregg seem to have a pretty positive relationship. Both have said pretty nice things about each other's program.

I'm now of the mindset that KU and WSU only play in the NCAA tournament and let the basketball gods dictate the outcome. It's a shame as both AFH and Koch are pretty special places for fans of both programs to experience. Besides, no one will ever convince the suburbs of Lawrence (JoCo) to ever agree to play in Wichita's Koch or IBA; regardless of who KU plays. It's quite sickening actually. It's not the same KU demographics as when I attended.

Why is KU unwilling to play WSU? It's not like it would hurt their RPI.

Katz's answer was "Because they don't have to. Bill Self was pretty clear about that to me."

Sorry folks, that game is never going to happen unless it is in the NCAA Tournament or a pre-season tournament.
Sure, they don't have to. For the good of the state, the could do it. But they are above that and any reasonable offer.

Davidson somehow gets neutral games with Duke. Butler with Indiana. I understand both of those have Elite 8 or better appearances within the last 5 years. WSU needs a similar type of run to really put the ball in KU's court. They still come off as chickenhawks right now. But after a WSU run, it would become glaringly obvious. Maybe too obvious to just ignore anymore.

It's not the suburbs of Lawrence that are the problem. This comes straight from Lawrence... but I agree with you. Leave this to the bball gods. The whole issue is nothing but a distraction for us.. Let's just stay focused on what we are doing now...

I think the Iowa Legislature has pretty much said they would do what it takes to keep the schools playing. It may have more to do with making sure Iowa and Iowa State play...

I was just reading that the new President of the Kansas Senate is from Wichita and is a WSU grad. She was in the Shocker locker room with the team and President Bardo after the Shocks beat Cu.

The President of the Senate is a very powerful person in the Kansas Legislature so you never know.

Can we someday ban the "Why won't KU play us" posts, perhaps for at least a decade or two?

All this whining does nothing but make us look small.

We need to get over this. Screw KU and KS.

We don't need them for anything as proven by the great progress we have made over the last several years. We're playing and beating good teams, getting great recruits and PR, are frequently being rated in the top 20 teams in the nation, and are looking very good for another NCAA invitation.

As far as I am concerned, if they would ever LOWER themselves to even broach the subject sometime in the next century, we should tell them to go take a flying leap.

Every year our schedule leaves little room for error. If pressure gets KU and Kansas State playing us it would be an easy solution to that problem.
